"I wanted to try a new eye doctor closer to home. So my wife made appointments for her and I back to back. When we went into the building the front area, we were told that only she had an appointment. And that we needed to go into the other waiting area. The children’s part… which we didn’t even know anything about. Since we were both new there. We knew right off the bat that this was probably not going to be a very good experience. Number one they had lost one of our appointments. Number two they sent us over to a total different area and acted like we should have already known ourselves where to go. so my wife knew I was having more problems with my eyes than she was so she asked them to give her appointment to me. Which they did. While I was back waiting for the doctor my wife was sitting in the waiting area (Which by the way, the children’s waiting area is small, awkward and uncomfortable). And a lady came in for her appointment. They asked her her updated address and then told her something about not being able to see her even if she has an appointment because of her address? Not totally sure on that but they asked my wife if she’d like to now see the doctor with me because they just had an appointment open up. In which she did. It was a new doctor in the building that saw us. He was very polite and professional and very good. We had no issues at all with him. so we went out after our exams. And the young lady working over in the eyeglasses part was training another young lady. However it seems that the first lady may need some more training before training anyone else. We told her that we just wanted glasses put into our frames that we already have. She then told my husband that he only had two options for his prescription glass and that there was no glasses like what he already has that was covered by insurance. So we decided to just get our prescription and go back to our old doctor. So the lady told us that we owed $90 for the day. She was polite but seemed confused on what our insurance covered. We told her that we have kind of like a health savings account where whatever insurance don’t pick up, it will pick up. She then asked us for like a debit card for that account. We told her that we don’t have one that she would have to call the number on the back of the insurance card so that they could verify with her. They are supposed to submit to our insurance everything. Then they would see that it was all paid for. She then went in the back to make the call. Came out about 15 minutes later and said that insurance told her that we don’t have anything like that. But that now our bill is $50. I don’t think she actually made the phone call. So my wife then calls insurance in front of her and puts the phone on speaker so that everyone can hear the conversation. Our insurance explained to her that yes everything is covered including patient’s part with the extra savings account through my work. This is why they are to submit everything first. And trust patients to know their insurance. And if not then they need to take the time out to make the phone call on the back of the insurance cards and listen to the representatives. They did get it figured out the next day and called my wife and left a voicemail saying that we did not owe anything and the insurance paid all. We spent way too much time in there and too much hassle. We will be going back to our old doctor in which we had no problems with, we just wanted to get something closer to home. The take away to the business I would hope would be: you get what you pay for. If you are hiring people paying them close to minimum wage or small amounts which most people seem to want to do. Then that’s about what you’re going to get in performance. Which causes you to lose money in the end. It’s not worth it."
"Another great experience at Family EyeCare Center. The staff are always polite, friendly and helpful. In particular, Dr. Gunn is an excellent physician. She's very attentive, listening carefully to any issues or concerns. She always offers multiple options to problems and takes the time to go over each one."
"Wonderful kids center. Playroom with Disney movies on and an open snack bar area with water, juice, and coffee. Place for parents to sit and enjoy as well. The doctors are kind and patient with the children and explain things for them to understand. They get a token at the end of the visit to spend in their little machine. Adult side: great customer care. The doctors are brief yet thorough and when transferred to the eye glass side the price point options are laid out for you and explained well. Great selection of frames for all price points."
"I am always very happy with Family Eye Care from the beginning (working with Assistant) to doctor's care (Dr Sieman is very thorough and explains everything well!) to those that help me pick out my glasses (very honest about which pair looks good)! I've gone back year after year for these reasons and more!"
"Always a great day to get the eyes checked. Arrived early and seen right away, fast and efficient staff, very friendly! Waited for me to try on 70 million pairs of glasses and both of us said these are it, when I chose a great pair! Definitely recommend!"
