Reviews of Lilac Center - Mission, KS
"Our experience with Victoria, Megan and Crystal was amazing!! They care deeply! They were helpful, kind and knowledgeable! Highly recommend the Lilac Center."
"This place would be great in theory. I have tried calling and scheduling multiple times. The answering service provided a poorly executed script and couldn't properly pronounce the words. I have been dreaming to go to DBT therapy and this program (in theory) sounds perfect. It's unfortunate that a place of business will make it so difficult to do business with, that they send customers away. The amount of negative reviews shows me I'm not alone in my frustration. I wish there were other providers to who could take advantage of their incompetency."
"Do not go here! They lied to my son and said insurance covers it, then they send me a bill for $800. They prey on mental health patients who are desperate for help. When you call their billing line (many days in a row) all it says is “we cannot take your call”. This place is a joke. Very UNETHICAL , they need to be sued."
"I'll just run through my first experience here. I call for an appointment in early January, have a ten minute consult where a therapist was assigned to me in early February, then my first real appointment is scheduled for mid-March (today). I get it. It takes a long time to get in to see somebody. It is what it is. I arrive at the office a few minutes ahead of my appointment time. There is a reception desk, but no one is there. Nobody is anywhere really. It's just a big empty room. After maybe 30 seconds I see a sign on a door indicating individual clients are seen in the basement. Ok. So I go downstairs. No one is there but one other client who is escorted to another room a few seconds after I arrive. Otherwise, there is nothing. Just some seats and a bunch of closed doors in a very basement-y room. Zero staff presence. I take a seat assuming someone will come get me soon. I sit and I wait for a little over 15 minutes. Nobody has messaged me. Nobody has called me. Nobody has come get me to begin my appointment. At this point I'm wondering what's going on, but there's nobody in the building to ask about that. So I call the main number and explain my situation. They seem confused by it, but take my info and say they'll send a message to people there, which I explain appears to be nobody. I wait some more. I go upstairs to like really look for someone. I check all around but nobody is there. I begin wondering how many days it would take for anyone to notice if I just took all the office equipment. I go back downstairs and wait. I get a call from someone working for the Lilac Center. They are confused by my situation, take my info again, and say they'll look into it. Eventually someone emerges from a room and goes upstairs. I wait some more. Eventually I think that maybe I should go upstairs in case that person that went up the stairs actually works here. It's about 35 minutes after my appointment time. I go upstairs and after walking around for a bit I see the person that had gone out the door and left the basement. I feel like someone stranded on a desert island who has finally spotted a boat approaching shore. I ask if she works there and she says she does. Awesome. I explain my situation. She is very apologetic and nice about it and offers to look into it for me. We can't collectively really figure out what happened. As I'm still talking with her I get a phone call from the person I was supposed to see. It's about 40 minutes after my scheduled appointment time. She explains that I was somehow deleted from the appointment schedule by some person, unruly cat, or supernatural power, and once I was deleted it was impossible to contact me to let me know that I was deleted from the appointment schedule. I suppose it's just the nature of deletions. So they just had to wait for me to show up and find no one there and eventually I'd figure it out or start a new life in the basement. However, I had been contacted earlier in the week via an email that confirmed my appointment location and time. I think about that for a bit, but what can one do? It appears that deletions are tricky things to understand, and even trickier to execute smoothly. I will say that the person that I was supposed to see was very nice and apologetic when she called and went out of her way to get me an appointment for the following day. So I guess we'll see how that goes. The point to this review is really three things. One, if you have a system that can contact a person to confirm a (presumably real) appointment, you should probably have a system in place that can contact a person to inform them when the appointment ceases to be real. Two, you should probably have someone there to greet clients and address any issues. This will likely also prevent people more unscrupulous than me from stealing all of your office equipment, which would probably be very frustrating when you notice it several days later. Three, this is rather trivial but the basement is very basement-y and I don't really care for it. There's probably not much that can be done about that."
"Edit: Updated below. I was in crisis and I turned to this center for help. While the staff seemed friendly and the place was beautiful, it's been three weeks since my "intake interview" and I've heard exactly NOTHING from the staff there. We were supposed to set me up with a therapist/therapy plan but nothing happened. For someone who has struggled for years with mental health issues, and has been having a particularly rough go of it recently, feeling brushed off and abandoned by mental health "professionals" cuts deep. Will never return. Will never recommend. UPDATE: Though the Lilac Center is great at brushing off patients and never treating them, they're GREAT A+ GOOD at billing you. Four months after my "consultation" (if you could call it that) I received a bill for almost $200. I ignored it. Later I called their "billing department" (a contracted company) and stated I would not, under any circumstances, pay for services not received. The next thing I know my card gets charged today for $60. So well done, Lilac Center, you strike again at being completely underhanded and disgusting in your treatment of the mentally ill. I applaud you!"
