Reviews of Livingston County Development
"I worked here from 2008 to 2010. I did three different jobs for them. So, when I was getting ready to move to Kansas City, I felt it was necessary to give them over a month's notice so they could get all my jobs filled. Within a week I was sent to do a 2-person job by myself even though I was very implicit about my lifting limitations because of a past back injury. A situation happened during this task that caused me to injure my back to keep my client from getting injured. I had to do an incident report and file a work comp claim. I hurt so bad the day it happened, by the time I got back to the center I couldn't even drive myself home. I was miserable for months but initially I had a hard time even doing basic tasks like taking a shower and dressing myself. The time off work that was prescribed by the doctor was no vacation and would not have happened if I hadn't been given that assignment that caused me to lift over a hundred pounds past my limitations. For my previous back injury from a bad car wreck when I was nineteen. Oddly, the work comp doctor's X-Ray of my spine was absolutely perfect. No sign of my broken right collarbone injury from when I was twenty, none of my broken ribs from when I was fifteen, or my spinal fracture that happened when I was nineteen showed up on their X-Ray. My back was perfectly fine, they said. I was like, I don't know whose back that is, but it ain't mine. I will be reviewing the work comp provider as soon as I find their info. Fast forward to when I moved to Kansas City, the same director claimed to have forgot my address three times when I contacted her about my last check and paid time off accrued which I was still entitled to per the employee handbook. Just spiteful, deliberately obtuse behavior. No way she was that incompetent while also working as a director of a nonprofit organization and managing staff etc. She was doing it on purpose. I ended up having to DRIVE ALL THE WAY BACK THERE from Kansas City in the middle of the week, TO GET MY CHECK, at which time she handed me my check and $22 IN CASH for my vacation pay. I got texts of her saying I was entitled to that money, and I ended up turning her in to the board of directors, who forced her to cut me a check for the rest of it. Really didn't need any of that when I was trying to start a new life in a new city. To top it all off, she would tell every prospective employer who called about my work comp claim but nothing about her role in it, and that she wouldn't hire me back because I had bad people skills. But yet I had got performance based raises and had been given many different roles within her organization as an employee before I had resigned. With over a month's verbal notice and two weeks of written notice. I loved all my jobs there and I loved working with the people there too. Something bad happened to a friend of mine who worked there a year or so later too and it happened in the same room with most of the staff, but they all lied and said they never saw anything. It's just full of cliquey, spiteful behavior. I do not recommend working there."
