"It’s a good place, the fact that this hospital is has our Blessed Mother Name is amazing. But also being able to go and pray in the chapel in front of the blessed sacrament whenever I come to visit Nebraska City, is such a gift. I haven’t been a patient here but I have seen members of the staff with patients around they are so compassionate and caring for them."
"2 concerns. 1) A patient is asked how many times a day she checks her blood sugars. If it is a low number, like I only say 2x a day, insur won't cover a dexcom CGM, which I finally got and is extremely helpful. Before, just using a lancet, if I'd get a reading before lunch of 200 I didn't know what to do. I still needed to eat. 2) Because my a1c had been in the 8, 9 and 10 range for 2 years, I got referred to a specialist. It cost me $1,000 out of pocket for 2 visits to this specialist. Insur told me specialists do get paid more because its now considered diagnostic care not preventative. I quit the specialist. I made a visit back with my Neb City PA, stayed on the dexcom and got novolog from my PA which is meal time insulin. I had guessed I needed meal time insulin because my numbers climbed higher and higher all day. I would guess I should have started novolog before I was referred to a specialist in June and 4 months would not have been in limbo between doctors. The novolog dropped my A1c (july-oct) to 7.7. I thought by sharing my concerns it might open discussions about how patients are "managed"."
"I had a very good experience at CHI St Mary’s during my visit. The staff were all pleasant and efficient starting with Jan at the reception, Kaye Gerdes at the specialty clinic and Christian from the lab. They made sure I was comfortable and well taken cared of. My OB-Gyn, Dr. Shanahan was also commendable for being very thorough since it was my first time having an OB here in the US. She listened very well as I detailed my history and made sure I get the procedures and tests that I needed. It was also easy to schedule appointments and the tests results were released in no time and was reflected in My Chart asap. Overall, it was a really pleasant experience."
"Very good, went over my lab results and explained what they all indicated and asked about any concerns I had about my health. Explained all the upcoming tests I was scheduled for and why they were being scheduled. Was able to get all my tests scheduled for the following week!!"
"As much as I've loved the care my kids and myself have received here over the past 11 years. We have reached a point of finding a new primary physician for us all. From month long waits to see our primary (or no option to do so at all and settling for different doctors each time) to not returning urgent nursing line calls - their care and treatment has declined in regards to our family and this is no longer a place we feel comfortable going for our needs."
