Reviews of Select Specialty Hospital - St. Louis
"Becca with Select was the most pleasurable person I have worked with in the last month of dealing with doctors, nurses, and hospitals! She is so kinda and informative and quick to answer any question I had at any time and never made me feel like a burden. I cannot thank her enough for everything she has done."
"Both sides of these 2 hospitals do not have enough educated skilled doctors. They Do Not know how to save lives. You and your loved ones can come at your own risk. At least 100 times out of 100 times they will Not save your at least a 100 people I know died. I'm grieving over those 100 friends and family and people I really loved came here because it was close by where we lived. Those nurses and doctors told all of us our loved ones needed a higher level of care. With that being said they could of transferred everyone to a hospital with a higher level of care but instead kept my loved ones and every single last one of my people died at one or the other hospitals. If you have a loved one at this hospital fighting for there lives. Call a ambulance here and get your loved ones out of here before it's too late. My father in law just passed away January 28th 2024. I'm pissed off about it and after talking to so many of my people families they are pissed off too. This place doesn't know how to save lives but they have some staff here that are intentionally stabbing patients ears on both sides and they don't even come in with that kind of complaint or injury. This injury is coming from one of the nurses. She does it to diabetics patients."
"My brother was accepted her for therapy as a patient with a trach. We are from Illinois and we could not find facility close to home that would take him because he had a trach and he needed therapy for strengthening and a broken hip and upper arm. He was expected to be there for 3 to 4 weeks. Little did we all know that by the Grace of God and the help of the Employees of this facility he was there for exactly 1 week. He is now home after laying in a hospital bed from August 22nd to October 11th with no therapy. 2 days before going to Select Specialities was the first time he had been out of bed since his fall. These people are Amazing and they do Gods work for sure. God Bless you all. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for helping my brother regain his strength and his will to live again."
"I'm hoping you can make sure this e-mail gets to the CEO of your amazing hospital! We have had such a phenomenal experience there and feel like EVERY single one of your employees needs to be singled out and commended for the level of care and compassion they give to their patients. Our family member was there after a massive brain bleed and stroke and the staff was simply amazing! I started filling out nomination forms for your awards and then realized that I didn't know everyone's name and couldn't fill out that many because simply, every single person in your facility was doing an outstanding job! We were greeted with friendliness when we signed in, and the nursing staff always filled us in on his progress when we arrived in his room. We had frequent visits and phone calls from the therapists who were working with him to let us know of his improvements and progress that day. They shared stories when he was speaking so we could get a better idea of how his day was going there at the facility. My daughter and I were so impressed with the extreme high level of care and compassion bestowed on every patient there, especially our family member. We were so sad to see him leave because we knew we had started making friends with these amazing individuals, who are absolute angels, taking care of him. We did not feel the slightest bit of concern with him there, and that says a lot. We know he was in absolutely THE BEST HANDS POSSIBLE because of the way every single person on the staff conducted themselves and took care of us and him. Just the simple courtesies of helping me find a higher chair since I was recovering from knee replacement surgery and needed to sit while I was visiting him in his room is an example of the little things that mean so much! We did fill out some nomination forms, but that would be doing a disservice to the ones who did not get one, simply because we didn't know everyone's name but that does not take away from their level of service and care and our feeling that they should All be recognized. You all made such a difference in his level of recovery, and you really relieved our minds with the stress that this catastrophe stroke has made on our family. Words will never be enough to thank you for all that you have done. Just know that there's a special place in heaven for people exactly like you! Thank you again so very much."
"Starting with Covid last January (2022), and ending (I hope) with back to back pneumonias, my body took a seriously big hit. I was given a choice of two different Select Specialty Hospitals and I chose the one closest to my current residence. Can I just say, "Wow!!" From the Drs down to the cleaning crew, this place is crammed full of truly caring people!! I was there for a little over a month and what a difference that time at Select made for me. Doctors Greenfield, Ekramuddiq, and Zuick were not only caring, but took the time to listen to my concerns and give me the answers I needed to make decisions to best accelerate my recovery. The nurses were amazing, and so comforting when I felt bad or was in pain. They truly cared about my well being and that made all the differenc. The tech's were always ready to meet any need I had, including taking the time to feed me (couldn't use my arms when I first got there). Both the nurses and tech were not afraid of the work required to care for me. I had to be turned, changed, and bathed--and they were always helpful and caring. Jordan was a nurse who set the bar for care and made me feel like a loved friend rather than a patient in a bed. I can't say enough about the incredible nurses and techs who cared for me. Florence really stood out as a hard worker who stepped up when everyone was busy--and let's face it, hospitals are busy places. While there I got some amazing therapy, which included Speech, Occupational, and Physical therapies. My pneumonias were from aspirated secretions while I slept. Jessica helped strengthen my swallowing and improved me so much I was able to get away from pureed foods! She was incredible! My main Occupational and Physical therapies were tag teamed by Stephanie and Jaime #1 (they have 4 Jaime(s)!!!). I had other great therapists, but these two were my daily most of the time. They pushed me to improve and were loving enough to help me avoid over doing it when my enthusiasm got the better of me. Respiratory therapy was also instrumental in my recovery, and let me tell you, I went in on a ventilator expecting that to be my new norm, and they and the doctors got me so strong I was able to rid myself of the need!! Talk about fantastic! Overall what stood out the most was the "Love put into action" everyone had for me, including Florin the cleaning lady. There are so many people I could mention like MJ the incredible lady who answers the call button. When someone responds and talks to you by name and readily gets your need attended to by the right personnel, you just feel good about it. When I first got there on the ventilator I couldn't talk, and even though I couldn't respond, MJ got me help quickly. I really love that lady! Ashley the tech who never rushed me and talked with me when I was lonely and longing for home and family. Jaime #4, was a Jack of all jobs there. I first met her as a nurse and later she became my case manager. She worked so hard to get me into the right place after Select, I will be forever grateful for her incredible efforts on my behalf. Last but by no means least, Sarah who headed up the therapy department. This place was so great I had few if any concerns, but when I did, Sarah who was my "patient advocate" addressed them immediately. When I left Select, I truly missed everyone there. I would recommend them to anyone needing an LTAC (Long Term Accute Care) facility. Select Specialty of St. Charles located in St. Josephs on Capital Drive will forever be family to me. The entire staff (too many people to mention) deserves recognition for the incredible job they do as a cohesive team of wonderful people."
