Reviews of Green Valley Resort
"Great location! I was in cabin 17 with my partner and our two dogs. It's an older, single-wide trailer with no frills, and yes soft spots in the floor as other reviews mention. But, the central air kept the place nice and cold, the shower worked great (great pressure and never ran out of hot water), and the fridge kept up fine (the first day we were concerned that it didn't feel very cold, but once we filled it with stuff, it was able to cool down and maintain just fine). The place was clean. The dock has a giant swim deck that our dogs and the kids in our larger group loved jumping from (my parents, siblings, and nieces and nephews were in the big blue house, see Terry Olson's review). There is a nice boat ramp as well as a rock beach for folks who prefer to wade in the lake. The volleyball court was a ton of fun, and the place in general has a lot of grassy areas to walk dogs in. When we got to our cabin it was missing a coffee maker and some lightbulbs, so I called in, and they were hand delivered in under five minutes. In sum, if you are looking for updated/remodeled/fancier cabins, then yeah 17 and probably some others at this resort aren't for you. If you're looking for an adequate place in a great location, and are a function over frills person, then you will be totally happy in cabin 17."
"We had a wonderful weekend at Big Blue Lake Retreat with our multi-generation family ranging in age from 4 to 74. We also rented a boat slip for my son's boat. Even though it was a busy Labor Day weekend at the lake, we didn't feel crowded at the resort or on the lake! All of us enjoyed the big dock with seating and ladders to make it fun to use as a swim platform. Our family loves volleyball and it was nice that they had a good court and net already set up by the pool. The young kids loved the playground and made friends with other kids in the resort. The house was huge, with 8 bedrooms! With many of the grandkids reaching adulthood, it was nice that most of the bedrooms had king or queen beds so that we weren't putting couples in bunk beds, as we have had to in other large rentals in years past. We all love to cook, and the kitchen had 2 large refrigerators, 2 cooktops, one gas, one electric, and plenty of pans and tableware to take care of our large group. Air conditioner kept up nicely. Grill is older, but gets nice and hot and cooks evenly. We drove into Branson for hiking at Ruth and Paul Henning Conservation Area and tennis and creek exploring at Stockstill Park. I contacted Lily a couple of times regarding boat slips and other questions and she got back to me right away if I left a message. We will definitely try to get this place again for future family trips!"
"Would never book again! We booked 2 trips, for location and reasonable prices. Well now I see why the run deals. The management doesn’t care how the establishment is ran, what it looks like or the fact the both units we’ve stayed in had an ant problem/and mice in another. The screen porches are useless because all screens are ripped. You better come prepared if you rent a slip, the have no protection on corners of slips, pure metal. The decking in spots on decks and dock are rotted. The grass was overgrown. No one around to keep the 10pm curfew time, as people kept driving by our unit loud at 1-2am and were even hooting and holler’n in pool area. The units don’t have utensils worth using, pots or pans are a hit or miss too. O and let’s not forget the smell the water has, rotten eggs. It’s so bad it leaves the tub orange. Vines overgrown on deck. Trash pulled off dock and then left for days at the end of ramp for the animals to get to. The list could go on. Worst place I’ve stayed on TRL. We’ve been coming for 10+ years and have never experienced such a joke of a place."
"Overall, we were satisfied. Best part is it is the location. Some pros: really close to the Branson strip and Silver Dollar City, secluded away from traffic and people, close to the lake, fun little community, great pool/playground for the kids, fun swimming dock on the lake, everyone pretty much leaves you alone. Some cons: our cottage needed major maintenance. Bathroom faucet didn't work, leaking pipes, AC had a hard time keeping up, big wooden deck had splinters and screws sticking up (I got a splinter on the bottom of my foot), broken screens and doors, to name a few. Location Info: There's a few other lake village communities in the area. Lots of people drive around in golf carts. There is also a medium sized baseball camp that shares the location that includes dorms and college aged baseball players who like to use the resorts dock to swim and party. The dock/lake is a small walk downhill but reasonably accessible. Not every cottage has a lake view. The main cottages are in a horseshoe shaped gravel road. Some don't get a lake view. Some are across the street from the horseshoe drag. I'd suggest to google map your view for a good understanding for which cottage you want to get and the perspective that has to the lake. Overall, the place was pretty quiet (with the exception of a few late nighters partying) and I think our price compensated for the need for maintenance for the buildings. The host was responsive and the staff pretty much leave you alone. We'd stay there again knowing what to expect. Just don't expect pristine conditions."
"I enjoyed spending time with my family, but I would not recommend this “cabin”. The place was filthy, brown water, soft spots in the floor, terrible beds, mouse droppings, bugs, the pool was also gross. Lower your expectations if you plan to stay there. I was unable to reach the host during our stay and so far have been charged 3 different amounts. The host has not responded to me on why and how to fix it. I honestly wouldn’t recommend the cabin we stayed in. The view was pretty, but that was all."
