"Growing up my sister and I both referred to this as the willy wonka of art. There used to be many different types of art mediums that didnt get to experince everyday in such a land of imagination. We had so many memories that I was so excited to show our kiddos... the wall paper.. the more of a group experience. Our parents got to volunteer. I was very disappointed in this new experience. Now, it is pretty much a big room to color in. Not as colorful and imagination based it is more Montessori equiptment with a splash of digital art. It is clear the theme is easy, volume, quick and low budget. Makers and tape no glue made it had for my little to do. You had to hunt down the pieces if you could find them in addition to the colors you want. 1/5 the water colors were completely out other than like 2 trays.I get that it's free but the volunteers use to help keep things together now there are 2 people just dumping water cups and moving people in and out. They don't have time to organize it themselves before the next round is in there. The puzzle machine was also down. The paint dryer is a liability without an employee or volunteer manning to make sure a kid did stick their hand in. I had to tell my 4 year old 5 times no to put their had in it. But with the time it takes to dry he had trouble remembering not to try.( he is a rule follower but still struggled). Definitely missing the engaging ambiance of the journey through a world of imagination. Sad my kiddo will never get to experience how incredible it used to be."
"A pretty awesome place to bring your kid to do some amazing artwork. Best of all, IT'S FREE!!!"
"Went with a 2.5 year old and 11 month old. Both kids had so much fun making fun projects! It was so nice because they limit the number of people so it wasn’t crammed with people! We did have to get our tickets almost two months in advance but it was worth it!"
"A free, unique experience for kids and parents that sparks creativity! I love how the materials used are leftovers from other projects. There's so much to do and the time limit makes it so that the kids never get bored. This is a fantastic activity to do in between two other nearby activities or to finish off a great day at the Crown Center and Union Station. The favorites in our family was the melted crayon craft, making puzzles, and the black light area. All the staff was helpful and passionate about what they do! The two drawbacks were signing up for the event in advance (online only has a few spots available so I had to keep checking for availability) and getting to the building (you have to maneuver through hallways to get here from the Crown Center and it's not always well-labeled... we had to ask once or twice how to get there)."
"I love that it’s free and gives kids the opportunity to be creative with all sorts of different art materials. I would highly recommend checking it out if you have kids. Be sure to book tickets online though because spots fill up fast. You can’t just show up and get a same day ticket. They have a certain amount of guests per time a lot. It is wheelchair accessible and stroller friendly so when you go in you can just park your stroller near the pictures of clouds and you don’t have to worry about it. They should give you a 2 hour free parking pass. Be sure that you are parking in the right area beforehand though. I parked in the wrong parking garage and had to pay full price."
