"I have been trying unsuccessfully to get in touch with the owner about the shady and questionable actions with the financial side and completely unprofessional behavior from the assistant director. Students pay a lot of money to go there and they’re simply not being taught what they’re promised. Examples of what our experience was when a client repeatedly and very seriously threatens a student with physical violence and the student is so uncomfortable that they tell Tasha (the assistant director), what does she do? Laughs it off and allows the client to stay. And because these students are not being taught the bare basics when a client comes in asking for a specific hair style and the student asks for help because they weren’t taught how to do this, maybe the assistant director should do her job and show the student how instead of rudely saying “well you’d better figure it out on your own because that’s what you’re going to do.” That’s not what we signed up for and not how ANYONE should be treated. Why pay over $20k to not be taught anything, be treated so poorly and disrespectfully? It should be criminal what they’re doing."
"I recently got a haircut at grabber. The student was super personable and nice. BUT. Let’s just say I know have to go to a nicer salon to get it fixed. I simply asked for a cut and fixing my face framing pieces, and got “layers”. The supervisor also helped the student and it still turned out like this. Truly be careful of what you ask for (even though this is 100% not what I asked for)"
"If i could i would give this place zero stars. Before booking my appointment I read the one star reviews and thought something like that could never happen to me. ABSOLUTELY NOT. They have messed my hair up beyond repair. The ambiance is nice and the staff is sweet, but in NO way should they be allowed to touch hair. I showed them a reference picture of ME with baby lights and i got chunky yellow highlights. staff lied and told me that purple shampoo would fix the brassiness. It’s after I begged an instructor to tone my hair, that he finally did. I was there 6 HOUR and in no way was there supervision from ANY advisor. VERY unprofessional. Students NEED to be supervised closer ESPECIALLY while doing real peoples hair. while my hair was being done bleach was spilled on to the cuff of my sweatshirt, while i was wearing a cape to prevent it. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE find professionals who will not subject you to this."
"Graduated from Grabber in September and have been waiting to get my license to finally give this school a rating. Where do I even start… so unorganized the entire time I was in school, teachers getting fired, directors being “teachers” and never actually teaching us and being out of the class for the majority of the day. Extra hours opportunities were a hot meas- the haircutting at the zoo and telling students the wrong zoo AND still giving them hours. Cossing out praticals for students who are about to graduate but still making certain students do them. Accusing students of forging signatures when they did the practicals fare and square, but letting “instructors” get away with signing practicals and never looking at the mannikin or photos bc they “dont have time for that.” I did not the education that I needed to make it after graduation, most of the things I know were done on clients which is terrifying. My class did not get manicures or pedicures due to one of the directors being our teacher and never being in our class-we were promised the education we needed but never got it. In my opinion as a former student I think the school should shut down until they have an organized program and enough instructors who know what they are doing and care for the students education. I DO NOT recommend this school to anyone. A complete waste of time and money. I have so much more to say but I think I said enough."
"The biggest kudos for this place is the staff. Everyone is so nice and I really like that the instructors are really friendly and look like they enjoy their job. The prices are reasonable and I feel that Grabber is accommodating for your appointment even if you don't need a lot done. I just got a few foils to lighten up my hair. This is a great place if you want to treat yourself to a spa or hair day on a budget."
