Reviews
"As other reviewers have said, this company is dishonest and will leave you high and dry. They WILL NOT stand behind their work. When they did our job, they had 4.9 star reviews, which is why we chose them. This is a list of issues we had with them, in order, when they ATTEMPTED to tile 2 bathroom floors with our expensive marble tile. * They asked to "store" a toilet in our new tub so they wouldn't have to carry to garage. This would have also left us with no way to shower. * Took one of our brand new braided toilet water lines, and i didn't get it back, even after asking for it. The other new toilet water line had to be replaced due to dried tile mortar all over it. * They used an impact hammer with a dull chisel, and a pry bar to remove linoleum instead of the proper scraper, and didn't remove completely. * Did not use self leveler primer. * They badly damaged doors, cabinets, walls, a wood stairway railing, and left a 3" scratch on our NEW $1100 tub with the concrete board. Tile mortar was also left on walls and cabinets for us to clean. Pics were emailed to Lizzy. * Concrete board cut short around floor vents, toilets, tub, and at doorways, so the tile was also short at these locations. I asked for it to be redone, and the response was "we MIGHT NOT have enough to redo it", and it wasn't redone i found out when i got home later. The floor vent openings ended up too big, and the doorways too short for carpet tucks. * Cut tile outside and right in front of our bay window, so that the dirty water was blowing on our windows and house. * Used all of our extra tile for both bathrooms (15% and 20%) and i had to order more. Their saw wouldn't cut it, and kept binding up. * Dumped leftover tile mortar in the middle of our yard and left for us to clean up. Used our HVAC floor ducts as trash receptacles, recovered with the vent covers, and left for us to discover and clean out. * One person showed up to lay the tile when it was supposed to be 2. He was RUNNING thru our house from the baths to the saw outside. He rushed our job, and tiled both baths in 1 day. Found out our job time was reduced from 5 days to 4. (rushed) * Floors were a disaster and i had started noticing all the damages, and i FINALLY became very upset. There were approximately 50 parts of the mosaic tile in 1 bath that was very uneven with one side being higher or lower than the surrounding pieces, and had tile mortar in a lot of the grout joints. There were also 7 broken tiles, and mortar in the grout joints in the second bath. The floor also wasn't level in 1 bath along a wall and one side of the toilet. * The uneven tile had to be cut out and reset, and the grout gaps had to be ground out. Also the floor openings and doorways had to be cut out and redone. * Lizzy wanted pics instead of someone coming to look at our baths, and after sending her the pics as she requested, her response was "we're not coming back because you're a bad customer"! I asked repeatedly for someone to come look at it, but it didn't happen. She denied EVERYTHING i said over the phone and in emails, even though nobody ever came to look at it. She wouldn't comment on the pics of the damages to our house. * We were charged an extra $250 because we didn't buy our tile from them. This was expensive marble tile that they (Matt) approved before the job started. * I had to fight hard to get an extra $300 on top of what we owed them that covered MORE TILE for the repairs, and repair labor. We were out the $320 dollars for our extra tile they ruined, and $1,500 in damages to our house, NOT INCLUDING our scratched new tub, that we have to live with now. * They rushed through our job because all they care about is their bottom line. It was very stressful seeing all this unfold with our baths and house, and then having to deal with very dishonest and unscrupulous employees and office manager, who also told me she would dispute a review, which is probably why their rating isn't lower than it is. Not to mention most of the positive reviews sound fake."
"Hands down the premier tile and flooring company in Kansas City. They are professional, on time and Lizzy is the most wonderful person to work with. She is incredibly talented at design and their installers are meticulous. Jonathon and PJ and everyone at Apex truly cares. Their work is phenomenal. Thank you Apex."
"Apex did a great job installing stone tile in my family room. If ever I need more work done they will be the ones I call. They were wonderful to work with from start to finish. Highly recommend them!"
"So we have this bathroom floor with some really nice tile work in it. Wouldn't you know, while carrying the "decorative" item someone felt would look good in the bathroom, it slipped and of course broke a few of the tiles. We worried how hard this was going to repair but really didn't need to. I've know the folks at Apex through a networking group I belong to for quite a while. They came out and calmed our nerves and were able to replace the broken pieces with minimal disruption and cost. We're not ready yet to replace the carpet on the steps down to my son's room, but when we do, we definitely will giving them a call. So if you need new carpet, tile or floor work in Kansas City, I highly highly recommend Apex Tile & Flooring."
"I've had several jobs completed by these folks and it's an outstanding experience every time. They've done a full Master bath remodel (shower, bath tub, flooring, new vanities/countertops, etc. and it looks fantastic. The quality of their work is second to none. I've also had carpet installed and not only was the price better than any retail store, the quality of the install was unbelievable. They took the time to screw down all my stairs and all the subflooring (even cut out a bad spot) to ensure no squeeks!"
