Reviews of Fitz's Delmar
"The different floats were good, but the food tasted like it was pre made it wasn't even hot. I would recommend this place for their different types of floats only."
"The food here was hit or miss. I didn’t like the coney dog. It looked good but the hot dog was overcooked and tasted too chargrilled. Something was off. The chili barely had flavor. The chicken club sandwich was way better. Fries were good and so was the ranch. The buffalo sauce was hot which was odd. The diet root beer was delicious. The cream soda was gross sadly. The server was attentive. The vibe was fun here. Would return & try something else."
"Joey was a great server who checked on us often and refilled our root beer without being asked. I loved my chicken tenders and fries. The root beer bbq sauce is a must try. My husband says the burgers are fantastic. Overall, a 10+ star experience for us!"
"Interesting place, quite lively but loud. Food was good & abundant. Free parking in a lot behind the restaurant. Didn't try any of the many float options but the endless mug of root beer was outstanding! I had the St Louis Slinger.... French fries topped with chili, cheese, burger patty & an egg. I didn't even think about the calories or fat content. Just ate & savored the flavors!"
"Fitz’s may be known for their root beer, but the restaurant is not to be underestimated. In the dining room, there’s a giant window offering a peek at the assembly line for their sodas and if you come at the right time, you can see the bottles rolling along for tumbling and labeling. It’s a rare thing to see in a restaurant and it adds to the fun atmosphere. They have a large dining room as well as some additional seating just up a set of stairs. The sodas are the star of the show at Fitz’s. If you’ve never been, you can go wrong getting a frosty mug of their root beer. It’s famous for a reason, it’s hands down the best root beer I’ve ever encountered. The other soda flavors are all great and the best thing about the unlimited mug is that you can refill with a different soda if you want to try another. The floats are absolutely huge and can easily be shared unless you’re really hungry. The server was kind and split our float into 2 mugs which I greatly appreciated. They also have shakes and malts, which I’m sure are good, but the floats are gonna be the thing to start with. The food itself has a lot of standards you’d expect in St Louis such as toasted ravioli, BBQ, slingers, burgers, pizzas, and sandwiches. The burgers are large, well seasoned, and delicious, especially that BBQ burger. I’ve also enjoyed both the spicy chicken sandwich as well as the turkey club. Get a side of the chili mayo to dip your fries in and you will not regret it. In a place known for soda, I wasn’t expecting the food to be as good as it was. The small but mighty kitchen is nonstop with all of the employees working hard to push the orders out quickly and perfectly. They don’t have many desserts, but their gooey butter cake came out nice and warm with whipped cream and it was so tasty. This restaurant can get very busy and it’s not uncommon to have a long wait. The staff has always done a great job communicating and setting realistic expectations. All of the servers are so friendly, aren’t afraid to make recommendations first timers, and are quick to help. I’ve always been impressed with the quality of the service they consistently provide. That’s not an easy thing to do in a place that’s so busy all the time. Hats off to Fitz’s for providing a great experience and serving up some great food."
