"Over 3000 bolts of fabric! Wonderful quilt shop with kind and helpful staff. Also amazing sewing machine tech on site if your machine needs repair. Don’t miss making a stop at Bittersweet Quilts if you are a quilter and in the Joplin area."
"While visiting my sister, she had an appointment at Mercy hospital so I thought we would pop in to this quilt shop because I’m a quilter who loves all things quilting. Well….their website boasted great fabrics and notions but I was very underwhelmed when I stepped into the shop. A woman, whom I assumed to be the shop owner, proceeded to follow us around her TINY shop asking if there was anything she could show us. I told her that I wanted to look around to see what she had and if there was anything that I wanted. This woman was plainly rude! Because of her rudeness, my sister and decided not to buy anything and left there. Believe me, there were several fabrics that I could have taken home with me but I refuse to buy from rude people. While being in Missouri, I have visited 3 shops already and this one was awful. I’m not sure what the other reviewers were talking about when they said there were friendly people there, I didn’t meet any. I am a big supporter of shopping local but… I would not suggest taking time to visit this shop. If you have time and are looking for a great quilt shop to visit you should go to the Blue Top Quilt shop in Lamar. Those ladies are a breath of fresh air! Since there is no back and forth here on google reviews I thought I would put my reply to the owners comments here: ….Mam… when I arrived at your store, you and two other women were there for what I was told was your “featherlight group” meeting. If I had encountered your mother, I would have treated her with the utmost respect and kindness as I was brought up to do. However, your mother was no where in sight; the only people I encountered were you and the two other women who were part of your group. One of the ladies even spoke to me about a quilt on display and how she already has it cut and ready to sew on the retreat that she will attend soon. The other lady chimed in and said that they would love to have me attend the retreat if I wanted. I am responding here to let you know that I didn’t appreciate the lack of kindness I was met with by you from the time I entered your shop until the moment my sister and I left after not purchasing anything. My being underwhelmed by your shop had to do with your attitude towards my “tan” skin and the fact that all quilters don’t like the same colors and styles of quilting fabric. I actually came to your shop in search of something specific but couldn’t even ask if you had it because you were ready for me leave your shop. The whole time I was there I was attempting to ask you for what I was looking for but you continued to interrupt me by asking if you could show me this or that. I’m sure that in your lifetime you have been a customer in a quilt shop and have appreciated the opportunity to shop at your own pace without the shop owner breathing down your neck. I will not be visiting your shop again or changing my one star review of your shop. I think it’s sad that you’d use your poor mother’s condition to try to make someone look bad instead of being honest and treating your customers with dignity and respect regardless of where they come from. There is NOTHING in you shop I couldn’t have bought many times over. Being a small business owner you should realize that ALL customers money is green and not be hung up on things like skin color."
"Great locally owned shop that has an incredible selection and kind professional service."
"This shop carries all of the fabric lines that I love! They have classes, retreats, & are always very helpful!"
"I moved south of Joplin two years ago and did not realize this little shop was 10 minutes away from my house! What a fantastic shop! Bonus - my favorite fabrics in my favorite colors! I really think they have something for everyone in this shop. The ladies were so nice to chat will while they were cutting my fabrics. Definitely going back when I start another project!"
