"I have had two negative experiences with this office and no longer feel that I can recommend them to other people within my network. The first was with a technician who thought it was appropriate to be rude to me during an adjustment, I requested that I don’t have her again and that took care of that. The second negative experience was today. My wife had to get her permanent retainer replaced yesterday and during the appointment she had mentioned that it didn’t feel right when she put her retainer in. She was told that it looked fine, and because she in non-confrontational she didn’t push the issue. However that night she was unable to get her retainer to fit properly and was very uncomfortable so I told her I would go with her to Dr. Austin’s office first thing in the morning to either get the permanent retainer removed or adjusted. We arrived at 7:30am and as we started to explain the issue to the person at the front desk we were immediately met with “well we won’t be able to get you in today”. I told her that my wife is unable to miss any more work and was cut off with “Can I look at my schedule?” in a rude tone. At that point I asked to speak with Dr. Austin because I was also a patient and she told me he was taking off someone’s braces and wasn’t available. She then tried explaining to us that it isn’t an emergency and she can go without wearing her retainer for a few days. This is not something that my wife wanted to do. The first available appointment she offered was tomorrow in the middle of the day which does not work for our schedule and then after going back and forth a couple more times she asked if 7:30am tomorrow would work, we agreed to that. The simple fact that the front desk person wanted to give me attitude instead of trying to find a helpful solution immediately is enough in my opinion to warrant this review. However, this is the second time I’ve had a negative interaction and for people who spend $5,000+ for orthodontic services here it is inexcusable. It’s also shocking that there aren’t any available appointments for someone who needs a quick adjustment first thing in the morning for when things don’t go as planned. We simply needed someone to apply a de-bonding agent to the permanent retainer and remove it. Please take into consideration that your problems or concerns will be downplayed and not be taken seriously at this practice when shopping around quotes for braces."
