The Breakfast Spot

"If I was going to summarize our experience the phrase from kitchen nightmares comes to mind. “It’s Fresh frozen food made in house”. The food is advertised as home made. However only thing that is close to home is that it’s cooked on a stove.All of their items are store bought frozen and prepackaged food. If you have a picture of the eggs in a basket on your menu yet the eggs used are liquid eggs out of a carton what’s home made. The potatoes are prepackaged and the gravy is canned yet advertised as “House made “ If you have ANY taste buds avoid like the plaque. We paid $50 for food that you can get from a store. At $5. And it’s going to taste better. The place is soulless , overpriced, and prepackaged food advertised as fresh.. ANY Breakfast place I have been at is better than the Breakfast Spot.. Do yourself a favor and stay away!!!! YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED.."

"Overcooked poached eggs, eggs Benedict as cold. I waited hoping she would come back and I could just ask for correctly cooked eggs at the least - she never came back. 4 out of 6 meals at our table were room temp and not even warm. The place was not busy at all, tons of employees, but it was 20 min before she came back and by then we had given up. Sausage patties were enjoyed by a toddler. Cinnamon roll was decent but not amazing for 5 dollars."

"We were excited to try this spot after reading about it in the latest leawood magazine. Unfortunately we were disappointed overall. The service was ok. The waitress was friendly and knew the menu. We ordered several items and found most of them to be lukewarm and bland. The exception was the kids breakfast sandwich and the veggie market omelette. Both of those were hot and tasty. The biscuit and gravy was lukewarm at best. I question whether the gravy is being held at an adequate temperature. The grits were hot but flavorless with no seasoning whatsoever. The butter comes in sealed little packets and is a spread so doesn't really add much flavor. The French toast was also barely warm. The restaurant was not busy and they had more than adequate wait staff. We even saw the manager/owner that we knew from the picture in the article. We thought he might come over and ask how our meal was since we left a lot on our plates but he seemed to be focused on other things besides the guest experience. I will tell you that all the photos you see came to a total of $37 so it definitely is budget-friendly."
