Reviews of Raman Center for TMJ & Sleep
"I can’t even begin to describe how grateful I am to have found Dr. Raman and his office staff! I have suffered from TMJ pain for 22 years of my life and couldn’t believe how fast my pain resolved after initiating phase 1 of my treatment plan with Dr. Raman. I presented with headaches/migraines, jaw popping/clicking, severe neck pain, jaw pain, facial muscle pain and left shoulder blade pain. Twelve hours after fixed orthotic placement, I woke up and was in tears when I had ZERO jaw pain. My progress has been phenomenal and I can’t thank Dr. Raman/staff for giving me my life back. If you are someone reading this and suffer from TMJ pain...DON’T HESITATE…pick up the phone and call their office today. You won’t regret it!!"
"Dr. Raman and his team have been so wonderful! When I came to him I had been dealing with unmanaged Cervical Dystonia and horrible pain for almost a year as well as a lifetime of migraines and other issues. They have helped me so much to not only be headache free but also look and feel like a night and day difference in regards to my neck and Cervical Dystonia symptoms. I really appreciate that Dr. Raman is willing to take unconventional routes to work at the root of the problems and not just manage symptoms. Amy and Melissa are also great members of the team, both are so kind and helpful. I would highly recommend speaking with them if you are dealing with any of the issues he addresses."
"After dealing with chronic headaches, facial pain, and fatigue for many years, going through treatment with Dr. Raman improved all of it! I highly recommend this place for anyone suffering from TMD or other related issues. Dr. Raman, Melissa, and Amy are all wonderful people and very welcoming - glad I gave them a shot."
"I have suffered from symptoms of TMJ issues for years. I have been diagnosed with TMJ issues by previous dentists, and I simply wanted to continue the treatment I had already started in Colorado before moving to the Kansas City area. That is not what Dr. Raman provided. Amy and Melissa are wonderful, and Dr. Raman made me feel like I was in the right hands to get treatment. I cried in his office thinking about the relief I was going to get, and at some level I felt like it didn't matter how much it was going to cost, because I needed this treatment. However, every time I tried to ask what the next steps were, or get a sense of the scope of treatment, Dr. Raman would not answer my questions directly and never gave me a plan or an overview of costs until AFTER I had already spent $4000 on testing. He would only tell me we would discuss that at the next appointment, or after testing. It would be very easy to explain what the process is, assuming the testing shows TMJ issues, but that is not the way this office is run. After I had come to two separate appointments, done a home sleep study, and spent $4,000, I then learned that I would be spending a minimum of $13,600 for continued testing and an appliance. I was quoted $2,500 for a similar appliance at an orthodontist office in Denver, CO, for comparison. The only reason I didn't get the appliance there is because I moved states. I decided this was too much for me to spend but I didn't have any hard feelings, I was mostly just frustrated this information wasn't given to me sooner. I went to a new orthodontist who quoted me about $6,000 for the appliance (which still seems high) after doing their own testing. This orthodontist also recommended I consider getting a CPAP for sleep apnea based on what he was seeing on the scan. When I tried to start the process of getting a CPAP, I requested my sleep study records from Dr. Raman's office and learned that, because he isn't a certified sleep doctor, his sleep study doesn't actually mean anything and I have to do the whole thing all over again (and pay another medical bill for the second study). Dr. Raman never even mentioned that I may need a CPAP, because he implied that his treatment would fix my sleep apnea issue. Dr. Raman's practice might be a good fit for people who do not know why they have pain, but if you already know you have TMJ issues, do not go here. It is a waste of time and money. I wish I had that $4000 back, because I'm still getting TMJ-induced migraines, I still have sleep problems, and I'm $4000 poorer with nothing to show for it."
"When I came to Dr. Raman I wasn't certain there was hope for me. Botox, Neurology, mouth guards- the list goes on! The daily ringing in my ears, lightheadedness, light sensitivity, sound sensitivity, blurry vision, panic attacks, neck pain and didn't realize I had jaw pain- let's just say, there were a lot of teary days. His staff was professional, he listened, did extensive testing and revealed to me that it was my jaw and neck. It was a long journey for me under his care, but I followed his instructions and over time watched my life completely turn around. I can now report that after braces and PT (which I still do the exercises daily at home), I am living my best life! I know how to manage my neck tension and clenching teeth. It is far, few, and in between (as the saying goes) since I last experienced headaches but when I feel one coming on- I now know what I need to do to ward it off. From daily discomfort to I don't remember my last one- this is huge for me!!! Thank you, Dr. Raman, Melissa, and Amy for ALL you've done to help me. Words cannot express my gratitude!"
