"BEWARE: These guys operate out of Madison, Gulfport, Jackson and others under a variety of names! Gluckstadt Heating & Air was contracted by First American Home Warranty to service our inoperable air conditioning unit. To start they were a day late arriving to evaluate, and the (next) day they promised to come at 3:00 PM they arrived around 6:00 PM. Due to their tardiness I was unable to be at our house, but my wife who was home alone with our three small children let them in during dinnertime. The technician immediately demanded $75 cash, which First American has informed us was not usual policy, but as my wife was alone she felt threatened and that she had no choice. They diagnosed a faulty blower motor in our three-year-old AC unit, and ordered the part. The next week when the part arrived they told us they wouldn't install the part without us paying an additional fee. Initially they demanded $200 from my wife, when I got involved (I was home at this point) they lowered it to $125, when we complained to First American they lied about the nature of the fault, saying due to our unit's age it needed an $81 "cleaning." The staff was verbally abusive to my wife and I over the phone, to the point where my wife felt unsafe allowing them into our home. I requested a refund a day after First American Home Warranty had assigned a different provider to us, whereupon I was verbally abused by the woman on the phone before she denied a refund and slammed the phone down. I have since found out that Gluckstadt was attempting to collect cash on the service from us, invoice First American for the service, and file the repair charges under manufacturer's warranty since the "old and dirty" AC unit was less than three years old. After First American assigned a new provider the problem (actually the ECM condenser fan motor) was fixed quickly the next day, with no problems and no extra charges. Withholding an agreed-upon, paid repair is tantamount to extortion, and taking advantage of a beleaguered housewife an unsafe and dishonest practice. NOT a reputable business, they LIE and TAKE ADVANTAGE of their customers, and attempted to SCAM and EXTORT both me and my wife, in addition to FALSIFYING reports to our home warranty provider. AVOID! AVOID! AVOID!"
"STAY AWAY! These people regularly change their name: Gluckstadt Heating and Air, Madison Heating and Cooling. They gouged us several years ago when we were less experienced with such things—costly life lesson. Charged us $900 for rinsing coils and a $90 part we didn’t need. The owners last name is Little. Uses first names of Charles and Robert. Kinda funny that the five star rating was from “Charles L”. Never got the refund they said they would send."
"Came out to my house last summer to replace the capacitor and freon paid around 200.00. Well my ac quit working this past Thursday and he sent out a guy who didn't really know what he was doing had to walk him through it over the phone. Well said it was the capacitor again. So he changed the capacitor and cleaned my coils. Well 496.00 he charged me. I was literally not in my right mind when I wrote my check because I was up for 24 hrs and was checking on my father who has cancer the whole night. They charged us a 90.00 service call plus 90.00 labor fee and 164.00 travel charge. They did not tell us a price before it was fixed then he comes tells me my price I feel like we got over charged big time. I talked to other people and they agree. I will not be using them again unless they are willing to fix this and refund some of our money."
"This company charged us a service fee of 96.40 for pulling up in our driveway. When I tried to explain that we had tried to cancel service call manager got very rude and told me I had five days to pay or he would take us to court plus costs. When I tried to get owners contact information was told the manager handled all collections. we pay our bills always and I've never had someone act that way over one we had had less than two hours. Would never recommend this company and they need to get someone who can talk to people with respect, ! Find another company this one doesn't care about their customers, only out to get money any way they can!! (Oh and I did to try to cancel service call we had two companys the one that I had canceled is the one who came, we didn't realize that until too late, so sorry for that)but it does not account for plain out rudeness! The customers should come first or how can you expect run a honourable business! Would you want to deal with someone that had acted the way you did! Apparently I am not the only customer who has had bad dealings with your company you need to look closely at your reviews!!!!!!!!!!!"
"The reviewers who gave this company a 5-star rating must have been owners of the company. We called them for a service contract and service call. We were given the price of the contract and made an appointment for the technician to come out and service our air conditioner. They provided the service at an exorbitant price then told us that the service contract would not begin until their next service. When my husband complained about the price and their lack of disclosure about the service contract he was told that they would reduce the price by approximately $200 and send it to us after our check cleared. The check cleared in 2 days. After several phone calls to the business, it is now more than 2 months later and no refund yet. If a zero star rating was possible that is what I would give them. Beware, they sell themselves very well on the phone but wait until you get their bill"
