"TLDR: they identified a problem two other companies, one the local “expert,” failed to saving me thousands. Instead of a new unit, it was a bad wire connection. For the last two years I had been given the run around on why the dual fuel furnace could only run propane. First I was told the thermostat was not capable of running both modes of heating, so it was replaced and this portion of the ordeal cost ~$800 to get a top of the line thermostat I was assured would fix the problem. By the time this was done the weather was warming up, so heating wasn’t an issue and the air conditioning worked just fine. The next winter came and with the second propane bill I remembered the woes. I called the HVAC company that originally installed the system to come and look. The thermostat had been set to only run propane in emergency heat mode. Despite telling them the heat pump didn’t work they changed the settings and left after 10 minutes and sent me a bill for the full hour costing $125. Early the next morning as temperatures inside fell to 60, I took pictures of the thermostat readings and called the company back out. After multiple visits from this second company their diagnosis was the whole unit had to be replaced and sent me a quote for $8,500. Thankfully, I got in touch with Chad at All Temp to get a third opinion. He came and took the time to more thoroughly go through the system testing multiple electronic components. After an hour or so of hooking up a volt meter to different components and connections he found a faulty wire connection saving me thousands of dollars. I highly recommend All Temp. They’re a small operation, so it may take a little longer than other larger companies to get somebody dispatched, but they certainly make up for that with their knowledge and thorough work."
