"The staff was excellent and very attentive to my fur baby. After waiting for hours of being in severe pain I had to leave a certain unconcerned group of people to take him to URGIVET. The kindness we were shown will never be forgotten and my baby felt so much better. I was informed of all procedures and felt very welcomed. Take you babies here. They care! Love it!"
"Called as was told to come up there. we drove from vicksburg with a very sick, lethargic and unresponsive puppy. Upon arrival we were told we had to pay, from the parking lot, a fee of $250 just for them to look at our puppy. We paid the fee and were never allowed inside. The tech came and got our puppy. Ran test and i’m assuming an x-ray but we were still in the parking lot so who knows really. All test came back negative.. We were told they would keep him over night but only after we had to pay another almost $800. Still not knowing our pups issue or having seen him. We paid what they asked and he was supposedly put on fluids, antibiotics (for what i don’t know). we were sent home after giving all of our information and the puppies history. We received texts being told he was in the same condition but we had to be there in the morning between 6:00 am and 6:45 am to pick him up. We arrived and had to pay an additional $300 of which i was charged twice! Still we were not allowed inside to pick up our baby. The tech, after sitting outside for an hour, brings out our puppy in the same condition we brought him in…. No itemized receipt was given and after asking the tech to please forward our puppies records to his primary vet we were told they didn’t have any information on him and had no idea he had a primary vet…. So i gave them the information again.. I then asked what medication he had received and the treatment he was given. Fluids and antinausea meds.. ok, different than all the texts we received. I then asked for them to email the receipt and the records to my primary and again supplied the information necessary to do so while also leaving my business card with all of our information. So we bundled our baby up and headed to our primary vet. This was 48 hours ago. Only to now find out he has a parasite, gets to come home friday and they have still not received any records nor a receipt for any of the charges. I called the the day we dropped our puppy off with our primary vet and the following day with no response. On day 3 i get a return call telling me they had no information about myself nor my primary vet…. I then gave the information for the 3rd time and inquired about the return of the double charge from them. I was told they would inquire and call me back. No return call was given but i did receive an email hours later telling me i had to call square to get my money back as they could not do that. I emailed them screenshots of my online banking. showing them the error and double charge. Keep in mind still no receipt and no records. Ethically and morally these guys have none of the above. I will never go back and i do not recommend anyone to go here either. I have been self employed for 33 years and the ethics of this facility is appalling to me. They pray upon the love we have for our pets. This is all about the money for them. Period!! We have a farm. Cattle, horses and on down the line. I’ve used the same vet for 30 years and David is family. His ethics and morals are completely exceptional!! These people at Urgivet are immoral, incompetent and completely without feeling. My next response will go to the veterinary board of the state of mississippi as i honestly feel this practice violates every code that being a veterinarian stands for. Samantha Wheeler"
"just terrible customer service. I am a first time puppy owner and my puppy was sick and the pink hair lady at the front desk was just so rude and unhelpful to me. they tried to make me pay before they even looked and took any test on my puppy. They were just so focused on getting there money and not focused on actually treating my puppy. If you want people who actually care about your dog and their well-being DO NOT COME HERE."
"I have experience with the other Emergency Vet Clinic in Flowood, but when I called the Flowood one during my particular time of need, they warned me it could be a three hour wait. So obviously I was not going to let my baby struggle to breathe any longer than he had to, so I found this place in Madison. Physically, I feel that they had nice facilities (refreshments provided, nice decor/atmosphere, although there was a significant amount of pet hair on the floor in the exam room we were seated in but hey, I wouldn't be a pet mom if I couldn't deal with fur). I do feel there is a plenty of improvement to be had in the ways of bedside manner. I liked that my paperwork was automatically completed for me by a team member asking me questions, since I was probably shaking and crying too much to read or write. And I understand that as business, a payment is a necessity. I do wish a high standard of treatment towards customers was a necessity as well. Even though I paid my deposit as soon as I was prompted to before leaving my pet in their care overnight , and I paid my balance due as soon as I returned the next day, I wish I would have been offered a written itemization of charges. Yes, I could ask, but it would be courteous for the seller to be the one to offer so I don't feel like I'm coming off as a cheapskate by having to request it. Even after he was released, I have never received an itemization of fees. While I consented to all treatments they offered (and therefore consented to the cost), again, it’s the principle of the matter. Transparency from a business is important to me. I actually had to reach out to request exactly what was done to my precious boy because when I picked him up, their acted as if their single obligation was running my card. It was also important for me to receive a detailed report of his visit because no one actually verbally explained the entire situation to me. I was told that he had an enlarged heart and that he swallowed air causing him abdominal discomfort. But the report that I finally did receive claimed that I was advised to schedule an echo cardiogram and explore regular medication. This was not the case. It should not be assumed that an owner wouldn’t pick up their pet and assume it was a freak accident that was fixed by this one time visit, which could easily happen if they didn’t overthink like I do and go out of their way to request a report when they did not receive one upon pick-up. I very much appreciated that they texted out updates so I knew he was okay in their care. Again, bedside manner was lackluster. When they asked for permission to text updates while completing intake paperwork, they also asked if they had permission to attempt to resuscitate him should it come to that. I immediately fell to pieces. While my partner later assured me that it was probably a question they ask everyone, the worker there failed to give that simple disclosure before hitting me with that. Since I was given such little information about what “he has an enlarged heart and has swallowed air” exactly meant, I thought that they were preparing me for him to die. I know they have to be realistic and not promise a positive outcome, but it’s very important the way in which news is delivered. Lastly, when I returned the following morning to pick him up, they simply placed him in my arms and told me to take care. I was so overcome with emotion to see him still alive, that it took me a moment to realize that I did not carry him to their facilities in my arms – he was in a crate. Which also had his favorite emotional support toy inside the carrier. He would NOT have been happy with me for leaving without that. So I had to go out of my way to question where his belongings were ? Imagine that I was not the one to personally go retrieve him and that I had sent my partner who could have been unaware that those items also came with him to even request their return."
"I do not recommend this place. The one star is only for the cleanliness & atmosphere of the building. The overall vet was a disappointment. I went for my dog having a seizure, at first they were very attentive and got her back immediately. However we waited for over an hour and a half without hearing absolutely anything from anyone. We had to flag down a staff member and ask for any sort of update (was she even still alive??) after we did this, we were given a medicine we had to pay for with 0 explanation from anyone, still. We were told if we wanted to speak to the doctor we would have to wait even longer, or the doctor would give us a call. As we were checking out, they waited until our payment went through to reunite our dog to us. We were assured we would get a phone call from the doctor, but never received one. We called back the next day about speaking to the doctor and we’re informed that the doctor would be in later in the evening and would call us. We never received a call. I do not recommend this place if you are wanting any explanation on what they did to your animal or if your animal is even okay."
