Reviews of Oxford University Transit
"Just got off the phone with an insanely rude employee. In the middle of me asking for a bus schedule, she tells “I CANT SEE THE BUSES EITHER. YOURE GONNA HAVE TO WAIT”. (She was indicating she can’t see their trackers, I simply called about a timed schedule but she wouldn’t know that because she refused to let me speak. It’s 7:30 am. I’m not sure what side of the bed she woke up on but it was not the good side!"
"Never on time, time tables aren’t accurate, app never shows the location of busses. Have been late to class multiple times due to late busses. Bus drivers will frequently leave the bus to get drinks as well."
"The most random and unreliable bus system I’ve ever come across. The app never works and you’ll be standing there for more than hour attempting to simply Track the bus you want. By the time the app shows you the bus, it’s already passed by you most likely. Routes change randomly, and certain buses don’t run on certain days, and there’s no warning system to this. It just happens and you have to deal with it. This town already sucks enough as it is, the least they could have is reliable public transportation but knowing that local IQ is 2, this makes sense for Oxford. You’re better off biking, taking an Uber, or driving to where you need to be."
"I'm only going to speak about the SOC line since it's the one I'm using but I've heard from friends that the situation is similar on other lines. To put it in one word: unreliable. Schedules are posted on the websites but the times on there are almost never respected. Maybe too ambitious to advertise a bus every 15 min? Two easy solutions: * Add more buses * Change the schedule so that the ANNOUNCED TIME IS THE ACTUAL TIME THE BUS SHOWS UP! Otherwise one can wait anywhere between 0 and 45 minutes. The live tracking app is also unreliable which makes it impossible to plan ahead. Similar to another comment, when I've called the office to ask about the whereabouts of the bus and why it's late I've been basically yelled at and somehow I'm rude for expecting that the bus arrives and leaves at the scheduled times‽ I just wish that public transportation was something that just worked in Oxford. I'm aware that resources are limited and drivers need breaks etc. but just give a reasonable schedule and STICK TO IT! I'm graduating soon but I hope for the sake of future students that this will get sorted out."
"If you live on old Taylor don’t depend on the OUT busses. Routes change or busses don’t come without warning. It’s hit or miss tracking on the new app where half the time busses don’t show up. I hate that the only way I can get to class is through these busses I’ve been late numerous times when I’ve been at my stop an hour- ten before my class starts and one bus comes 15 minutes before the class starts. I just don’t understand how everyday my experience can be so different yet universally difficult. I don’t know what changed either. I’ve been using the bud system here for the last three years and it’s never been as ineffective or frustrating as this year. Get a car or find a place you can walk but until something changes these busses are awful. Today a driver even stopped mid route with people on the bus to smoke a cigarette with the bus door open."
