Five Oaks Ag Research and Education Center

Five Oaks Ag Research and Education Center is a unique institution located at 207 Pecan Lane in DeWitt, Arkansas. Our main goal is to equip young resource professionals with the necessary skills and knowledge to ensure the health of wetlands and waterfowl populations for the future.

We offer a 2-semester/18 credit graduate certificate program in partnership with the University of Arkansas - Monticello. Students have the opportunity to live on the Five Oaks property and immerse themselves in wetland management practices.

One of our recent projects focused on developing set-aside practices to benefit waterfowl, the environment, and producers. This included leaving fields fallow, promoting native vegetation, and planting small grains behind row crops. Local producers have shown interest in these practices, providing justification for incentivizing set-aside programs.

Located in the heart of the Mississippi Flyway, Five Oaks is a crucial stopping point for ducks migrating from their breeding grounds in North America to their wintering grounds in the South. Arkansas winters more mallards than any other place in North America, and many of them return year after year to Five Oaks.
