About Us

The Wisconsin Memorial, located on Union Avenue in Vicksburg, Mississippi, is a stunning monument constructed from Winnsboro granite. Standing at 122 feet tall, the memorial features a bronze statue of "Old Abe," the war eagle mascot of the 8th Wisconsin Infantry. The monument, which cost $90,644 to erect, was dedicated on May 22, 1911, and includes bronze tablets with the names of the 9,075 Wisconsin troops who fought at Vicksburg.
