Utica Junior College
About the Business
Located at 219 Main Street in Utica, Mississippi, Utica Junior College has a rich history dating back to its founding in 1903 as Utica Normal and Industrial Institute. As the oldest of Hinds Community College's six locations, the campus offers a close-knit environment where students can embrace their heritage and prepare for their future.
Utica Junior College merged with Hinds Community College in 1982 but still maintains its Historically Black College & University (HBCU) designation and traditions. Students at the Utica Campus have the opportunity to get involved in student government, organize activities, and explore career opportunities in STEM fields through the STEM-UP program.
The campus also offers academic courses for students pursuing bachelor's degrees, as well as career and technical programs for those seeking hands-on training for successful employment. The Early Childhood Education Center on campus provides daycare services for infants through age four, and the Student Support Services office offers academic support, financial aid awareness, and college transfer assistance.
Housing options are available for students in the men's and women's residence halls, and the Student Success Center provides services to assist students in transitioning into the workforce or a four-year college or university. The Utica Institute Museum tells the story of William H. Holtzclaw's role in Southern Black Education and the impact of the Utica Institute on the community.
With a focus on STEM, student success, and workforce innovation, Utica Junior College is dedicated to providing a comprehensive college experience for students.
