"DHS has some of the highest test scores on the coast. Their ACT scores higher than most surrounding schools partially due to the commitment to bring in outside sources for ACT training and partially due to having ACT work in all classes daily. There are 7 Dual Credit college level courses offered as well as AP. The biggest discipline issues are dress code, cell phones, and tardies. GREAT community involvement. They had a 'signing day' for their college athletes. They also had a 'Signing Day' for academic scholarship winners that has been filmed the Mississippi Department of Education to use as an example for other high schools. d'Iberville doesn't do anything half - way or little, whether you're talking about athletics or academics. They go all out."
"It is horrible they care more about dress code and cell phones then education For example I had a hole in my jeans right on my knee and I was written up and given six demerits for that and my phone just being visible has also gotten me written up (12 demerits). I have 50 demerits because of dress code (things minor such as the jeans) and my phone being visible. Not to motion I was wrote up, for something that happened omg august, in October for wearing joggers (which are basically sweat pants that look like jeans) and they made me show them where the button and zipper was supposed to be, when they saw there was neither a button nor a zipper they wrote me up"
"I am a student at this school, and this year they are ridiculous about the phone policy. They said that IF a teacher PERMITS the use of a cellphone in their classroom, NO consequences will happen if an administration walks in to that classroom, but in one class we had a substitute who allowed us to use our phones for a worksheet and it was in the teacher's lesson plans, but an administration walks in, looks around, and said that they will write the whole class up!! Lack of communication and poor responsibility from the staff!! Also the school lunches are actually not healthy!! Just today there was roach eggs in the fries!!!"
"If I could give this school a minus 5 I would. As a parent I am absolutely disgusted that this school does not include parents in anything! If you want to find out anything about your child, as a student in d'Iberville High, you need to constantly check inow. Vice Principal Elias disciplined my son for using an electronic, his phone in class, but not once phoned me (his parent) for this. He just gave him demerits and sent him on his way. Well, as a parent I think I should have been made aware of this. I guess I'm just old school! Biloxi schools involve the parents a lot more. My daughter will definitely be attending Biloxi schools even though I have to pay tuition!"
