Reviews of Beacon Behavioral Hospital - Northshore
"I had a loved one recently at Beacon and I was impressed by the care she received while she was there. The facility was clean, the staff were helpful, friendly, professional, and shown compassion to both my family and my loved one. Going through something like this was a terrifying experience, but the staff Beacon made this experience easy and it felt safe. I would recommend Beacon to anyone that needs the services that they provide. My loved one has been back at home for a few weeks now and she is still doing amazing. Quality care and compassion really do go a long way."
"My grandmother self admitted into this facility in November. She went in for help adjusting her anxiety/depression meds. She was told this would be the best option to help her feel better faster. My grandmother has no memory loss & she still functions on her own. Unfortunately, her experience was less than ideal. The psychologist only visits the facility once or twice a week. She spent most of her days sitting in hard plastic chairs attending sessions with the social worker. She was treated VERY poorly by one the female techs at this location. She was taunted and made of fun. She was called “crazy” and told she would be transferred to the facility on the west bank. She said she was freezing cold at night but they would not give her a blanket. She ended up signing herself out because she could not take the emotional turmoil anymore. When she was picked up she told us she had fallen (she had bruises all over her backside). We were never notified about her fall even though we called to check in on her multiple times a day!! This “hospital” should be ashamed. They will not help your loved one, they’ll just cause more headaches & pain. Go somewhere else for help because you surely won’t get it here."
"Less than one star… there is elder abuse occurring in this facility, physical, verbal, and emotional. Those plastic chairs visible in the picture is what patients sit in up to 12 hours per day. There are some outstanding Mental Health Techs, but the vast majority are just mean as hell. Nursing Staff Grade D-…. You can be in this facility for 7 days and NEVER see a psychiatrist in person other than 10 minutes on a ZOOM call… Psychiatric NP’s discuss psychiatric issues with patients while patients are being held in day room… Zero HIPPA compliance in this area… Medication time is almost like “One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest”… males lined up at Nurses station being asked psychiatric assessment questions, then moved down the line to get medications…. Oh, they had a COVID outbreak this past week, 7 of 20 with COVID… no medications offered other than Tylenol, and cough drops… no steroids, no antiviral’s, notta… 2 patients ended up going to the hospital … the rest were quarantined in that room you see in the picture…."
"My aunt was sent to this horrendous place for dementia. While there She developed a UTI that was left untreated for so long she became septic. The nurse we spoke to (supposed to have been the head nurse) was so rude to our family it was unreal. My aunt went in this place talking and very able to communicate, but came home almost nonverbal and would not make eye contact. When she did talk she kept saying they did mean things to her. She was so scared of everything! She had bruises all over her. She came out of this place a completely different person! Due to the sepsis and pneumonia my aunt unfortunately passed. I don't know what they did to her but something happened. My family is considering legal action against this place. DO NOT SEND YOUR LOVED ONES HERE! They may come out worse than when they went in, I know my aunt did!!!"
"My grandfather was sent to this facility for dementia. He died a week later with covid and pneumonia. My grandfather was able to cut his grass when he left but after being at this facility, he couldn’t talk or walk anymore. We never were able to visit him while he was here. This facility put him on his death bed; they waited to send him to a hospital when it was nearly too late to save him. The staff neglected him and did not properly care for him. I am writing this with the hopes to save someone else’s life."
