"My daughter, who is disabled, sees a Nurse Practitioner there. Since she has no mode of transportation, I drive her there. Lately, my husband and I are living in a camper at our farm in Crystal Springs. It's approximately 35 miles from Brookhaven, where our daughter lives. For me, it's a 200 mile, round trip, and takes approximately 2 hrs.to get there. The Nurse Practitioner, is doing well in providing help for our daughter. However, I think some of his or the Clinic's polices could be changed to make it easier on the patient and family members who help them. When blood work is needed, a patient either has to come the day before, or come early the same day and wait 3 hrs. To see the Dr. They close the Clinic from 12:00-1:30 p.m.for lunch. So especially with the Pandemic going on ...we had to either walt in our car all that time, or come back home and wait for a video conference. Here's the clincher...if a patient goes home and has a video conference with the Nurse Practitioner , the patient is given a script that you have to go back to the Nurse Practitioner to pick up and there are no refills on script which is a 30 day supply! Our daughter, was not informed of this ahead of time! I failed to mention, not intentionally, but our daughter is on highly controlled Pain medication. If we had waited the 3 hrs.to see the Nurse Practitioner, she would have been given a script with 2 refills! So, it is most tiring, time consuming and expensive to have to go that far , only to pick up a script that if we had suffered threw the wait of 3 hours, could have been prevented...why punish the patient and family for opting for a video conference... especially, when we weren't told ahead of time. It's a very good facility, well staffed, great doctors and nurses, from my experience, I would just suggest that you thoroughly understand your options and any penalties that may result from your decision."
