"It’s been a long time since I had a horrible experience here but I’ve never forgotten it and felt I should write a review as it’s been one of the most memorable experiences (and not in a good way) I’ve had regarding service encounters. I brought outdoor patio cushion covers here to be sewn. I brought the material and came to this place after going to two other places locally to get price estimates; one place was very reasonable but due to it being prime Mardi Gras season they were unable to take on the project. The other place I though had quoted me high at $25 a cushion to do. Again, I brought the material and the cushions were not an odd shape, they were small and square. Nonetheless, I came to this place and the lady at the counter who appeared very sweet and easy going told me it was no problem at all to sew these patio cushion covers and it wouldn’t be a big expense or take much time. She said they’d be ready by the end of the week. I didn’t think with the information she had given at that point price would really be an issue. When I came back at the end of the week, she said the total would be $600 for her work in sewing up 5 patio seat cushion covers. I had spent maybe $10 per cover on the material and less on the cushion itself. To be charged $600 to just sew the covers was WAY more than even the cost of the table, cushions and material alone. I paid since I was there and as soon as I left, I was so distraught about the whole encounter I immediately called my husband frantically to let him know I was conned out of that much money and he told me to immediately go to the bank and place a freeze on our account so the check could not be cashed and to go back to this business and further discuss as the price I paid was outrageous. Only when I went back and spoke with this lady again did she now appear to be her true natured self. She wasn’t very nice at all and told me I paid so much because the person doing the work has a speciality in doing furniture and such and costs more. She made me feel really bad about feeling uncomfortable to pay that much and when I told her I had received several quotes (documented on paper quotes) elsewhere, I showed her the quotes and told me to just pay what I felt comfortable paying. So I ended up paying the $25 per cushion cover amount (the highest quote other that her price I had received) and then left but I’ll never forget this experience. It was horrible and honest to goodness traumatizing. All I can say is if you decide to go here, make sure to get a written quote prior to any service being completed."

"I'm super happy with this place. I needed to have some seams on leather sofa cushions re-stitched as well as having one small tear fixed. I had been quoted $350 by a place in GPT and told that it would take a week or two. The Golden Needle did the repair in 24 hours and only charged me $75. I'm very happy with the quality of the work and Helen was extremely pleasant to deal with."
