Getaway Homochitto Cabins
About the Business
Getaway Homochitto Cabins is a lodging institution located at 1975 Gloster Road, Meadville, Mississippi, United States. Nestled in Meadville, just 2.5 hours from New Orleans, this Outpost offers a 1.5-mile trail with scenic creek crossings leading to a lookout of the Homochitto River. The secluded cabins are spread out across a towering pine forest, offering beautiful views of the natural world. The 9.7-mile, dog-friendly loop winds along a river and takes you through the majestic Homochitto National Forest.
Make a pitstop at this local favorite and fill up on fresh ingredients for all your favorite campfire recipes. Visit the quaint local winery specializing in fruity, muscadine wine for a taste of local flavors. Keep noise levels low to ensure everyone can enjoy the peace and quiet of the surroundings.
Due to the secluded nature of the Outposts, cell phone service may be spotty. Cabins are equipped with landlines for emergency calls. Parking is available near each cabin, and guests are asked not to set up tents to preserve the solitude for neighbors. Each cabin has its own space, but expect to see other cabins on the land.
Some Outposts run on a limited supply of water, so guests are encouraged to be mindful of consumption. Hot water is limited in all cabins, lasting about five minutes for a quick shower. Guests can sign up for exclusive offers and updates, and receive 15% off their first Getaway by signing up for text messages. Every booking at Getaway Homochitto Cabins results in a donation to One Tree Planted.

"I think these cabins are great for anyone wanting to get out in nature but not suffer the elements too much. I wouldn't recommend bringing a large dog, as the cabin is quite small. I also had an issue with a neighboring property letting their dogs run around off leash, but Getaway moved me to a different location with no problem."
"My little family and I GETAWAY experience was both good and bad. The cabin is beautiful, well situated with all of the necessities, very clean, and the staff was extremely helpful and responsive. Two things that ended up causing me to be skeptical about recommending this place to friends and family. 1. We ran into an issue with the thermostat our first night. It was locked for some odd reason, causing the tiny cabin to be extremely humid and stuffy, to the point I couldn’t breathe; nor sleep. Whilst, the staff was very responsive, they weren’t able to fix the issue until the next day. 2. I don’t believe the cabin is set up for small children like my 2 year old despite the fact the site markets to families. Our second day my son took a wrong step and hit his mouth on the wooden table that you can not move because it is nailed to the wall. Unfortunately, my son lost his first tooth right in the front of his mouth that day, which was caused for an ER visit 40 minutes away. We ended up being there for 3 hrs. I do think if families are wanted, the tables should be able to fold up to the wall making more space for kids, because kids are in fact prone to falling and need more space. Also, the last step is way to high for any kid to step down off of.ii"
"First timer (and won't be our last). We were HIGHLY impressed with the communication leading up to our stay, the location/site and the cabin. The tiny cabin was better appointed and cleaner than many hotels and places we've rented before. Comfortable bed, hot shower, everything we needed to cook four meals (appreciated the olive oil as we forgot to bring our own). Incredibly peaceful and quiet. Loved the bluetooth speaker in the cabin! Huge plus being so close to the national forest. We enjoyed an 8-mile trail hike before winding down around the firepit. Definitely recommend paying for the fire bundle. Brought our pup and appreciated the dog bowls. Wish we could have stayed longer. We brought all our own groceries, so I can't speak to the grocery store nearby. 10/10 would recommend and can't wait to go again."
"This is our second time at getaway Homochitto cabin. Always clean and quiet, and everything is provided. All we need is bringing ourselves and enjoying and relaxing. This time, we went there with our dog. They provided everything for my dog, including treats, which she liked it a lot. It was a perfect holiday for us. We definitely go there again."
