Reviews of Phillips Building Supply
"The old lady at the front counter is EXTREMELY RUUUUUUDE. I live local and will never ever shop there. Rely sad that she runs customers off from such a well stocked store. Oh, the rest of the staff is very polite and willing to help."
"The cashier who answered the phone was very rude and could use some solid training in professionalism and customer service. As soon as I mentioned having a uhaul reservation, she cut in to immediately "transfer you to uhaul." I hung up, called back and told her that I do not need to speak with uhaul. She had an attitude and exclaimed that she "is just the cashier." My first general question was regarding their closing time. She then rudely let me know that she needs to "transfer you to uhaul" after a follow-up question regarding my reservation. A polite gentleman picked up and, during the course of our conversation, I realized that this was actually a company staff member. His phone demeanor gained an extra star, it would have been 1, if based solely on the cashier's responses. When someone calls about their uhaul reservation, how about being a little more specific and stating something along the lines of, "I'm unable to assist you with this, but I can transfer you to the person here who handles the uhaul reservations." A few extra words, mixed in with a courteous manner would go a long way in leaving a much more positive impression with potential customers. EDIT, in response to the Owner's Reply: If my review is read and understood correctly, it is not about being transferred to the appropriate person, it is the manner in which it was done. This reply seems to dismiss or minimize a customer's legitimate experience of not being treated with common courtesy and professionalism by one of the staff members, irregardless of the department."
"Fantastic experience all the way around! Extremely knowledgeable and friendly staff. They can help you with whatever questions you may have about any projects you might be doing."
"Amazing staff. Very knowledgeable with great products including big green egg products and lumber. The staff is friendly and will help you with anything you need!"
"From the moment I walked in the owner (? She kept calling it “my store”) was telling me how annoying it was a customer would come in at 445 because they close at 5 and how I needed to hurry up and get what I needed. I told her I needed a chainsaw and she snorted dismissively and gave me an aisle number. Not wanting to be a bother, I quickly went and grabbed what I needed and went to check out. The man who wrote the order down gave it to me so I could pay while went to gas up the saw, oil the blade, and ensure it ran. This took an unusually long time and when he arrived he had the “good news and bad news” of it will run but it’s not running now because he flooded it trying to start it up. He offered to keep it and do it again in the morning and I could pick it up at 07. I told him that’s the same time I have to be at work and I can’t always leave work at a time that would allow me to make it to the store before closing, so I would just take it home and sort it out. When I got home I got it running with minimal issues. I went to make a cut and it didn’t cut well and threw sparks. I stopped the engine, checked the saw, and immediately noticed they put the chain on backwards! I know! I should check others’ work, but I figured an authorized Stihl dealer would know how to assemble a chainsaw. They deserve more than one star because the store’s selection seemed decent. However, they don’t seem to know what they’re doing and their staff, even when you’re spending hundreds of dollars, is exceedingly rude. If you really need something, I’d check elsewhere first."
