"I wanted to share the bad experience I had so others can be aware. Keep in mind that people don’t book a stay at this hotel for no reason. A majority is for events and special occasions. My special occasion was my 10 year wedding anniversary. We were booked to stay there and made dinner reservations in October for the end of February. That is many months in advance. I received an email from the restaurant saying that due to a buy out my reservation had to be cancelled but they offered me room service. The audacity to even ask was astounding. Of course I want to spend my 10 year anniversary in my hotel room eating dinner…not! The way this business has put money over its customers is disgusting. To cancel a reservation and offer room service on a special night for us is unforgivable. Why not tell the other party trying to buy out for the event that the night was not available? Oh it’s because you wanted more money. Please note we will never stay on your property after this. I will not spend money on a company that does not care about its customers. And it was not just my reservation canceled but other people’s as well. Now had the roles been reversed, and I would’ve called to make a reservation I would’ve been told no that there was an event already booked that I would have to reschedule for a different weekend yet the same courtesy was not given to me and my husband we were just simply canceled because they wanted to make more money"
"I highly recommend staying at the White House Hotel for all of its beauty, rich history, charm, and unique character. It provided a beautiful setting for my dream wedding day. The staff were amazing. Special thanks to Larry, the general manager, for making my dream day come true. He was a total delight to work with. Suite 314 has a great view of the pool and of the Gulf of Mexico."
"The front desk clerk, who was just filling in for that evening (normally works at Cora's Bar) had trouble checking us in, it took a while but she was very apologetic and sweet about the mistake she made. Our room was a big disappointment. The room smelled, not sure what the smell was, but it irritated our eyes and we were stuffy in the morning. The room decor is very strange, it looks very cheap for a "King Suite", it despatately needs to be updated!! The beds are very uncomfortable (pillows too). The bathrooms need help, the toilet paper holder and the hand towel holder were loose and we were worried they would come off the walls. The shower has a very uncomfortable stone floor, with grout missing in many places in the shower and around the tub. We didn't use the tub because there was hair in it. We did not go to the front desk to complain because it took so long to check in we didn't want to waste our vacation time waiting. We wont be staying here again."
"We loved our stay at the White House Hotel! Everything was lovely and the staff was exceptionally friendly and helpful! I'm so glad the hotel was renovated and reopened! I've wanted to stay here since I was a little girl and finally got the chance! The room was comfortable and the atmosphere most peaceful. I can't wait to come back!"
"I truly dislike leaving bad reviews unless they are really deserving. My wife and I booked a room for our anniversary several weeks in advance here. The hotel itself is cool and I remember exploring it when it was abandoned way before the renovation and it was spooky as heck! The history alone makes it worth the stay. Anyway, we show up and we are super excited about the rooftop bar with great view of the Gulf of Mexico... That is until we see a sign by the elevator indicating that the rooftop bar is "closed for a private event". I mean are you kidding me? That rooftop bar is literally the only reason we booked with you to begin with. So we were reduced to using the lobby bar which is not nearly as entertaining. Such a disappointment. How easy would it be to require a 1-2 month advance reservation for private events and that way you can inform guests who might want to book a stay on the night the rooftop bar is reserved. Honestly, I probably could have made a big deal but it's not my style and the desk jockeys don't really care anyway so what's the point. Instead I leave detailed reviews about true experiences and let the businesses decide to improve or suffer the inevitable fate of shutting the doors."
