Middendorf's Slidell

"Surprised! I thought the food would have tasted much better. We were disappointed. For appetizers, we had a cup of crab gumbo and a cup of shrimp gumbo. We planned on sharing, but we could not tell the difference. Both were really bland and uninspiring. The entrees also lacked appeal. My wife had the platter. Overpriced. The stuffed crab tasted old and cold. Nothing special about the French fries, the fried shrimp, or the hush puppies. The fried oysters were horrible. I had the Bayou Pasta. Again, the taste was lacking, and it was too spicy. I will give credit to the taste of the thin catfish slices. They were very good! And the smoked catfish dip was also very delicious. I would give five stars for the dip and thin sliced catfish; if that was all we ate. My wife enjoyed the little dish of coleslaw. The service was great. We waited less than five minutes to be seated , and less than five minutes to be greeted by our waitress. Our waitress did not hover over us, and took care of us. The restaurant was clean and well maintained. I cringe when I give negative reviews. Maybe it was an off day in the kitchen. I doubt we will return. The place was busy, so I am sure plenty of folks enjoy the food, but we left disappointed."

"I have taken high school students from Mississippi to the New Orleans World War II Museum for four years. We always stop at Middendorfs in Slidell. Great seafood at great prices. The service is really good. easy access just off I 10 in Slidell. I recommend it as a good casual seafood place. ."
