"A $500 deposit is insane!!! I completed a pre approval application online and was told I was approved for up to a certain amount. The young lady, Ms Trenice called me promptly and asked me what was I interested in. I told her I was looking for a small L shape sectional. We talked otp and she sent me pictures of what she had available. I picked out a couch, something small that I could have paid off in 90 days. Ms Trenice called me that night around 7pm and said I was approved but had to pay $500 down. Hmmm That was odd to me because I have great credit and great payment history with everyone. After she told me this she proceeded to ask “Have you spoken to 2 of your relatives because they are behind on payments. Can you tell them to give us a call.” First off all why do I, a person with great credit have to pay $500 deposit. Also she should have never told me my relatives business. I contacted the 1800# to see why they requested $500 down. The rep explained that is very unusual for Rent a Center to request $500 down and the most they usually request down is 100-$200. He escalated ticket/concern because he did not see any notes about this and he also contacted store to ask Ms Trenice but she was off today. Now I am waiting on district manager Mary to call me back to see why or IF I had to pay $500 down. I decided to give Rent a center a try because I need something small. I will just continue doing business with Miskellys where I’ve never had an issue and get approved for everything!"
