Restaurant was spacious and comfortable. I got the Honey Bee cocktail and the hot chicken sandwich, and they were delicious, highly recommend."

"Welp, I said I wouldn’t be returning here. But my brother wanted to go and offered to pay, so I was in lol! I was hoping for a better food experience, but I have to leave my rating at 3 stars. Let me start by saying that the service was great! We made reservations and our table was ready (with water on it) when we arrived. Our waitress was excellent. She was knowledgeable about the menu and very personable. The booth that we sat in was a bit tight and cramped. There were only 3 of us, so I can’t imagine how 4 people would make it work. Now on to the food. They give you complimentary rolls. At initial sight, I thought they were burnt...but in actuality, they were perfect with a hint of sweetness. The accompanying garlic butter sauce made them even better. We ended up getting more rolls when the food came and they were not as brown as the first ones and not as good either. We started with the Fried Oysters Melanie and Shrimp & Jalapeno Poppers as appetizers. They were both decent and the shrimp in the poppers were really fresh. For my entrée, I had the Shrimp and Grits. The grits had great flavor and texture, the andouille sausage was tasty, but the shrimp was a letdown. The whole dish sat in a pool of grease. By this point we were full, so we ordered the White Chocolate Bread Pudding to go. The bread pudding was bland and the white chocolate sauce was really watery and lacking flavor. To sum things up, the food is average at best. That’s not a bad thing, but for the price, it’s not worth it. If this place were to move their price point down some, I would probably visit regularly. Previous Review: I wanted to like this place, but unfortunately that was not the case. Downtown Grille serves Louisiana type fare. However, I live in New Orleans (but Greenville is home) and the food did not meet the mark. I ordered the crawfish Mac & cheese and it was terrible. I had to add salt and pepper to add additional flavor to the cheese sauce. The crawfish were plenty, but their flavor was no-existent. It was gross. I also ordered the hot tamale boudin bites. They were pretty good, but something weird was in one of them and that was a turnoff. I also ordered 2 drinks. They were good, but the bartender went heavy on the ice. I requested light ice on the 2nd and still received a glass full of ice. The other individual ordered the potato crusted salmon. The salmon had no flavor and the cheese grits were basic. I could have made better at home. Overall, I spent $100 for 2 people to eat and there wasn't nothing fantastic about this meal. I won't be returning."
