"Terrific out and back hike starting from top of the mountain. Trail is switchbacks down through the woods with many overlooks of the ocean and coastline. Beautiful forest opens to rugged ricky coastline and then eventually down to a deserted beach. We clocked 1.9 miles one way down to the beach. Trail isn't steep and is well maintained."
"Beautiful views on both sides. I watched the sunrise here and the fishing boats come out of Brookings. No one was around and it was nature at its finest."
"One of my favorite hikes on the southern Oregon coast. It’s so beautiful and a good workout, the elevation gain is on the way back out but it’s so worth it. Lots of mushroom, trees, and good views along the way. At the end there’s an entrance to the beach that can be a little difficult to get down but take your time. Really gorgeous hike!"
"I stopped by Cape Sebastian for the great views at one of the highest points on the Oregon Coast at about 700 feet. You can see Humbug Mountain and Gold Beach to the North and Crescent City to the South. A steep three mile trail takes you down to Hunters Cove with a series of switchbacks as you descend down to a step drop with a rope to the beach. You can hike the first part of the trail if you are short on time and want to see the great views of the rugged coastline. Located at mile marker 334.8 on Hwy 101, about seven miles south of Gold Beach on a steep and winding road. A nice place to watch whales at certain times of the year, explore a secluded beach down a steep cliff, and watch the sunset over the horizon with amazing views."
"A nice hike with great views. It’s 2.5 miles round trip to the beach, downhill the first half and all uphill on your return. I don’t think going to the beach was worth the hike, stopping at the viewpoints was the real highlight. But if you want the beach, it’s wide open and quiet. The last part of the hike is very steep and does require using the ropes anchored to the rocks. I would not bring kids on this hike because I would not want to manage them on that last stretch."
