Established in 1983 with a Community Development Block Grant and volunteer labor, it was Eugene's first playground to feature a fully rubberized safety surface. This innovative surface is cost-effective, low-maintenance, and meets safety standards for accessibility and play. The City of Eugene is currently planning a renovation for Scobert Gardens, with construction set for 2025. Funding for the project comes from system development charges.
