About the Business
Munson Creek Falls State Park is a beautiful natural attraction located in Tillamook, Oregon. The park features the tallest waterfall in the Coast Range, with Munson Creek tumbling 319 feet over several tiers. Visitors can enjoy a short and accessible trail that winds through an old-growth forest to a viewpoint of the majestic waterfall.
During the spring and summer months, the park is filled with blooming trillium, corydalis, and violets, creating a picturesque scene beneath the forest canopy. In the fall, the big leaf maples and red alders turn vibrant colors, adding to the park's beauty.
Munson Creek is an important salmon habitat, and visitors can witness spawning salmon in the late fall and winter months. "Beautiful walk and the hike was easy and not very long."
"This gem of a waterfall is a towering 319 feet tall. The heavy rains made for a powerful volume of water spilling over the falls on this winter day. It's just a 1/4 mile walk to reach a viewing platform for the falls. The trail is well worn/visible and runs along the beautiful Munson Creek through mossy old growth trees. On this rainy day, it was muddy in areas, and the rocks in the trail slick. There is a gravel parking area at the trailhead. Some directional sinage appeared missing (broken sign pole). There was no signage for this State Park from the highway that we observed. The access road became very bumpy, so drive slowly."
"It was a gorgeous fall hike. It was wet do we wanted to get out in nature without going too far. It's only a quarter mile in on a mostly gravel like trail with just a few muddy spots we could maneuver around. You come to an opening and you are met with a gorgeous waterfall. The leaves were spectacular as well. Perfect, short hike with great reward."
"After hiking only 1/4 mile along Munson Creek, you arrive at a place to see the waterfall, still at a distance. The trail ends at a large log jam, but you get a good view of this tall waterfall. We went on January 31, and there was ice on the sides of the fall and here and there along the sides of the trail. The path is well maintained and quite close to the creek. The road to the trailhead has potholes, and Google seemed to be taking us to the top of the falls at the east end of the park in a long circuitous route. Maybe there is another trailhead up there. But on that pitted road we wanted the shortest route. You can use Google to show you where Munson road is, and that’s where you turn East from Hwy 101. Then, follow the signs for the Oregon State Natural Site. Just as you near the State Natural Site (green area on Google maps) there is a Y in the road, and Google says to keep left to drive around the park, but a sign points right to get to the site. Follow that sign to the right. The hike was lovely; I only wish it were longer."
"Nice, short hike along the creek with a bit incline near the end of the trail. The waterfall has an impressive height, but the trail is blocked/stopped before you reach the foot of the fall. Parking is small and people do not seem to take long here--maybe 30 min. Makes for a great extra stop if in the area. There are no benches, picnic tables, or restrooms."
