"A medical supplies company, Pacific Medical, lnc., provided me with a sling and an ice pump for an operation that I had done in November of 2023. At the time, they fitted me and handed over the equipment, I asked if I had to return or pay for it, and the representative told me they would bill the insurance company. At the time, I was focused on my medical needs and the upcoming surgery, and the last thought on my mind was to be on high alert for predatory business practices. Fast forward six weeks. A bill shows up at my house stating that I owe them $638 for the ice pump because insurance deemed it "non-essential to my recovery. The issue is that this exact ice pump model sells for ~$200 retail practically anywhere online. They never showed me a cost estimate of what I would be expected to pay in the eventuality of the insurance company not covering the bill, so I was blown away to receive an invoice stating I owe them a total of over 300% higher than the fair market value of the item. Had I known this cost, I would not have accepted the equipment in the first place. I decided to reach out to see if they would be willing to work with me since the cost is so unexpectedly and unjustifiably high. The Pacific Medical employee was very condescending and unapologetic and stated that because I signed the agreement to pay if the insurance company would not there was nothing they could do and that they don't accept returns. This isn't fraud, but it is very much predatory and was carried out in bad faith. Trapping people into exorbitant expenses while they are occupied with more pressing medical considerations is shameful and unacceptable, Healthcare is already costly enough as it is, with regards to legitimate medical expenses. The American people don't need companies like Pacific Medical, Inc. piling onto that to make a quick dollar."

"The orthotics are fine, but my credit card was billed 3 times for the one-time charge, and now 10 days later I still haven't been credited the refund even though I've spoken with various people at Pacific Medical around 5 times and was told it was being handled. I was even mailed a statement dated a week ago saying I'd be getting $350 back, but no action yet. They processed the charge immediately but seem unwilling to process a credit, something that can be done almost instantly."
