"My college account was given to me to run when i turned 18. My mother used Merrill Lynch and followed her advisor through Morgan Stanley to UBS for her financial planning and retirement. She had great advising and saved very well being a single mom and her advisor became like family to us. Unfortunately she retired when i started to manage my account and I was assigned to Ronda. I followed her from Morgan Stanley to UBS blindly. I never felt like she understood or cared about my goals or knew me. I felt like she couldn't be bothered educating me at my younger age. She always talked way over my head and very rarely gave me advice I understood or trusted, and i told her this several times. My mother stayed with her, too, but had retired. Although she felt the same way, she didn't feel she needed much advice so it wasn't as much of a concern for her. The advice lacked for years until I got old enough that i started to really want to know HOW to invest, save, grow my money and feel financially secure. But i was afraid and confused about how to grow my account. It just sat there, i got less and less communication from Ronda and eventually realized she had no concern over my "small" account, and i realized and assumed it was because she was not making much money off me. On a desperate whim, I tried reaching out to Terry, whom was in the same group as my mom's initial advisor and had made the same company transitions, thinking i just needed someone to explain things a little different so i could understand and trust my decisions. But i was met with a hostile email, to take my money elsewhere, and notice that i was filing a complaint and the "complaint department" of UBS and they would contact me. I was in shock. I was looking for advice, that's all!!! I never heard from the complaint department and it's been over 2 years! And never heard from Ronda, yet, 2 years before my email to Terry i hadn't even been offered an annual portfolio review anyway. If there are rules, I never knew. I never got clear advice, or education, or felt i really made informed decisions. After Terry told me to leave, I had no idea what to do with my account since there isn't another UBS branch in town, and they were very rude when i asked questions about transferring and fees and such. If you want "advice" and have less than millions they can earn a bunch of money off you, i DON'T recommend them. I regret wondering where i would be financially now if i had started to get the advice i requested 15 years ago!"
