"I would never deal with Joel Shaw, CPA ever again. He is NOT what he promises to be and to do. I hired Mr. Shaw this year to do my tax returns. He promised to get it done in 2.5-3 weeks, but it took him 5 weeks and I had to remind of myself twice. It appears that he doesn't hire enough tax prepares to handle clients. Then he quoted me one cost but later complained how much money he wasted on my return (that doesn't take more than a day) and that he should have charged me double. The most important thing is that he eliminated a very important deduction for me which resulted in a much higher tax liability and instead of meeting with me to answer my questions he dropped me, as a client, 3 business days before the tax filing deadline. Completely unreliable, doesn't care about the client, but only cares about charging a client max. He also demanded a $500 deposit up front. In my 29 years filing tax returns, I never met a CPA who demanded a deposit up front and a high deposit. Don't waste your time! He wasted the entire tax preparation season for me. Refused to file an extension, too. He completely screwed me. I should have never hired him."
