"This is my experience with VCSS: When my Pug was diagnosed with MCT, I felt what can only be described as an animalistic need to find him the best care. Dr. Kang has been exceptional. Going in, my only ask was someone highly qualified to give us the best chance at a good outcome. Beyond that, she has been as invested in his overall well-being as we are. She has assuaged the fears of his (sometimes) anxious moms. His surgeon, Dr. Wooldridge, was in contact and available many days after Neville’s surgery. Neville had some very challenging tumors to remove, and we were surprised by the margins Dr. Wooldridge was able to achieve. The nursing staff is top-tier. Neville is wiggly and nervous exactly 100% of the time, and they manage to deliver his treatments without stressing him out. Not an easy feat, I’m sure. I know Neville’s friends indulge him with treats while he’s there, and care for him as their own. The admin staff is incredible, too. Beyond being kind and making us laugh every time we visit, they have rearranged schedules and worked Neville in on busy days. I know they don’t have to be as flexible as they are, but it’s been a godsend as we try to fit his treatment appointments into busy work schedules. Any praise I could offer will fall short. Every single person who has cared for my dog has treated him as their own. They’ve laughed at his antics. They’ve cheered our milestones. They’ve shared their own pets and stories with us. They’ve acted as friends, genuinely. The veterinary oncology club is not one we would have ever chosen. But we couldn’t imagine being in it with any other staff. It’s not lost on us that the extra time we get with our little dude is because of the collective efforts of this team."
