"If you stripped away the name, you wouldn’t even know it’s a thing. You would definitely keep looking. You likely wouldn’t choose them. I went to visit the vaunted and acclaimed “OHSU KNIGHT CANCER INSTITUTE “ main facility at Waterfront…HUGE disappointment. Felt zero connection and no warmth and no feelings of amazement. ALL INTERNET HYPE NO SUBSTANCE. OHSU Waterfront had 1 giant blacked out and locked research and administrative building for badge personnel. Another general building that sends you to second floor for treatment. THAT’S IT? OHSU Knight Cancer Institute? Oy People want to see pictures of doctors and staff…highlights of your cancer care, why we should choose you and trust you with our loved ones lives. A web site or splashy headlines DO NOT connect “feet on the ground” patient and families with “LIFE SAVING CANCER CARE INSTITUTIONS” Where are the people to meet and greet and connect with and talk to and consult with family? That circles back to the reason I went to tour: poor feedback from my own cancer patient. That story to follow. *That being said, the satellite offices have a few brochures to connect patients a little and front reception who are focused on cancer patients."

"I've battled cancer for almost 20 years and have been to 5 different cancer centers in 4 different states. Knight Cancer Institute is head and shoulders above any place I've been. From the staff to the oncology board to my wonderful oncologist I have received the best care of my life. My wife has commented on this fact numerous times as well."

"This is a pseudo name as I unfortunately still have to have treatments done here. 1st- If you have an appointment to receive any sort of transfusions or treatments in the afternoon, you can expect to be late. They are always late about seating patients. 2nd- The nurses would rather be busy charting than helping each other out to get patients in and out on time. The change over is almost as bad as a dialysis clinic. 3rd- As another patients below said, "It is as though the left hand doesn't speak to the right hand". Their coordination is terrible and disorganized. 4th- Why do the nurses have to wait for ABM to come from another floor to wipe down chairs? Instead of waiting 5-10 minutes they could wipe the chair down, change the trash, and be ready to seat the patients in minutes if an ABM employee is not available. 5th- It shouldn't take a nurse so long to sit and do charting. Need to pick up the pace. Overall- when I spoke with the charge nurse about these she gave the usual canned response "we will look into it". Which means nothing will get done and people can just wait until the next number is called. If I ran a business like this I would have no business."
