Reviews of McKay Elementary School
"My daughter loves her school.. Thanks for the support, care, patiente and love for her.."
"Our son has been going to McKay Elementary for 3 years. When he arrived in first grade he wasn't even at kindergarten level. We wanted to hold him back instead of going into first grade. McKay leaned toward having him start the first grade and convinced us that he would be caught up all the way by the end of the year. Second grade came around he went all through the second grade and was still doing kindergarten work and we were lead again to believe that he would absolutely be caught up by the end of second grade, and they would not let us hold him back. Also would not in the third grade and said he would be caught up by the end of 3rd grade now we're in the end of 3rd grade going into 4th and the team and the principal have all voted against him staying back in the third grade. This is absolutely outrageous. It's very disheartening and I pled with the principal to please hold him back so he could catch up and they just will not do it. They said they have made their decision and that is that, with the excuse(explanation)each year that it would be too much of a social impact on him. We begged for them to understand what a huge impact it would be going from grade to grade and into middle , junior high than onto High School being so far behind as he is never been able to catch up. For a school to have the final decision on things just doesn't seem right we really loved McKay and the attention he was getting but obviously wasn't get the right attention as he is still doing first grade work going into the 4th again this is very disturbing and I highly disagree with their decisions. So at this point they said that if he wanted to change schools that it would be a process that would have to be made which would entail the decision being made by the principal if he would be allowed to transfer schools or not ( again another Power Trip)and very disturbing so we are forced into having my wife quit her job and to homeschool him again very cumbersome and disturbing and they just do not care and they are sticking to their guns again very disturbing. We have done everything we can to support the school and to support our son. He has had perfect attendance, and we have been complimented on what good parents and supportive parents we are. He does not miss any homework and he has been sent home with extra homework for 3 years now and still hasn't been able to catch up. My wife has put 100's of hours of extra devotional time to teach our son at home and he still hasn't been able to catch up. And they send him home with homework the same grade level as he's in rather than what he can do. Instead of going on and on about this I think you get my point it's just disgusting that a school can have so much power. I let the principal know that I was going to take administrative action and she said go ahead I'm telling you ahead of time that if you do the administration is going to go with what the principal and the team have to say . I was in tears and she knew this and I begged again and she said my decision is final with no remorse . I hope this has helped someone out there think about sending their child that has a learning disability to McKay Elementary."
