"Fantastic New Management! The old management was terrible and drove us to move out. The NEW management was 1000% better and very responsive. The apartment was fantastic and a great location. We only moved due the to previous management's poor responsiveness and absolute lack of communication. New management was very helpful to assist us in closing out our contract and getting our deposit back. Shout out to A.J. Matison for her outstanding service!"
"I lived here from December 2020 to April 2022, so I won’t comment on management since that has changed. Overall I liked the area and the building, but like any place it has its challenges. Pros: 1. Location. Literally in front of a Max stop, one stop away from New Seasons, lots of great food and coffee close by. I was close to work at the shipyard and really appreciated the location. 2. Awesome bike lanes to get you everywhere 3. Smaller building 4. Common spaces are nice 5. Finishes and appliances are fairly nice. Bathroom in my unit was HUGE. I appreciated the parking spot with storage and the bike storage/repair area. I faced west away from Interstate; the view was beautiful and I rarely heard the Max horn on my side of the building. Cons: 1. Location. Overlook is a beautiful neighborhood, but shares the same struggles as much of Portland. Definitely a bit on the sketchy side, especially after dark. 2. Residents. The original group that moved in were great; friendly, courteous, responsible. As time went on, those people were fewer and fewer. We became that building where you let your dog use the hallway or elevator as a bathroom and then leave it there. People stole seasonal decorations off doors. My car got broken into in the SECURE parking garage (pretty sure by another resident since nothing was taken except my dash cam that was pointed at a different car that was broken into the same night). Police coming to break up domestic spats in the hallway. Just obnoxious stuff. Hopefully the new management is being more selective to improve the quality of life for responsible adults. 3. Not the best sound proofing. The people above me got their kid a big wheel or something and I had to listen to those plastic wheels on the hard floor for HOURS every day. Overall…I would probably live here again, especially reading better reviews of the new management, but I would pick the top floor or try to find out who lived above my potential unit. I also hope they have added more cameras to the garage. Happy apartment searching, all!!"
"I've lived at this building for 6+ months. Recently, the building was purchased by Green Leaf and they changed the name to The Jasper (formerly the perch). I describe my experience with the previous owners (Fairfield) as mediocre, the office staff was slow responding to requests, and many times the office was closed because they split staff between multiple properties. Since new management took over, I have noticed positive changes have been made. Including repainting some common areas and new carpets being installed. There's a crew that vacuums and mops the common areas regularly. I see them on my way out to work. Jason, at the office, always responds quickly to any requests and returns messages promptly, he'll even watch out for packages when UPS or Amazon leave stuff lying around (especially now around the holidays). This is a new building, so most appliances are fairly new. The only issues I've had was that my microwave stopped working (I'm not sure what happened, the unit just malfunctioned). Management simply replaced the old microwave with a new identical unit. Brian, the maintenance guy, is both professional and friendly if he ever needs to enter your unit. I'm happy with my experience with Green Leaf Management. As for the general experience, I used to live in a "historic" building before. While I love the architecture of old brick buildings (let's face it a lot of these new apartment buildings look the same), I don't miss any of headaches that came with dealing with old pipes and crusty water coming out of the faucet. Everything in my unit works. I have a hybrid job, which means I need to have a fast/secure internet connection so I appreciate having fiber and a smart panel (the modem is hidden with a patch bay that connects to ethernet ports around the apartment). No need to get an ugly cable around the room to have fast plugged-in internet (the wi-fi also works fine). I love the amenities in the building. I also appreciated having a choice of internet service providers (before I was trapped by CenturyLink). On days I find working from home difficult, I take my laptop to the co-work lounge, they have an automated latte/coffee dispenser in the lobby for those days you need an extra caffeine boost. I live on the same floor as a the grilling terrace, so I have used the grills in summer and really enjoyed that aspect of the facility. I have not used the club room because there are people there every time I have tried going there, but I think you can "reserve" the room in case you want to throw a party. The location is transit accessible (the MAX is literally visible from my window). There's sports and neighborhood bars within walking distance (Advice Booth and Backyard Social as well as George's and Satellite Tavern). There's breweries, pizza shops, and a few coffee spots on Killingsworth (including The Stacks). PCC is nearby and PSU is 25-30 minutes on the yellow/green line. New Seasons is 1 MAX stop away, Freddy's 2 stops away. Oh yeah, I like having the Amazon Locker in the first floor, too (even though flex drivers refuse to use it for some reason). That's about it. There's plenty of pictures on the website, I'm including the lobby and the garbage room (there are shoots in each floor that end up in the main trash room). Carboard and Styrofoam need to be disposed on the first floor, but there's a trash room in each floor for everything else."
"I moved into The Perch PDX, September of 2022 and the experience was a breeze. Majesta did a great job at communicating to get me moved in. Jessica was a sweetheart during my residency there. I moved out at the end of September 2023 and there weren’t any issues. 3 weeks later I received an email stating that the property management had sent me into collections for an unpaid debt. Prior to the email, I wasn’t sent any mail and didn’t receive any phone calls from the property regarding this debt. I’ve tried to call the property and contact Majesta but they have been dodgy. I didn’t read the property reviews before moving in here but I suggest you take into account the many people who have had move out troubles similar to mine."
"Just moved to The Perch. I think it is great experience here. The location is very convenient near yellow Max station and Public park in front of the building. The community area is available for online working while I am traveling here in the US."
