"Sarah changed my life & I will be forever grateful for the several long stretches of time I’ve spent with her learning about myself. I had negative experiences in therapy previously so I came in skeptical, but through teaching me DBT & mindfulness practice, with loving kindness & without judgment, Sarah held up a metaphorical mirror for me to question myself and come to my own conclusions about all the things I brought to therapy with me- There was never a time I felt it wasn’t safe to be brutally vulnerable and honest about any and everything- past, present and future. Because she provided a safe space for me, she was able to really help me process all the situations I found myself in, gently guiding me back to my mindfulness practice & to other practitioners when necessary. I came to therapy as someone with crippling anxiety, paralyzed by fear and a significant amount of unaddressed unhealed trauma and came away with the tools to care for myself, finally was able to stop worshipping at the altar of my pain (my words not hers) & finally began living my life like I wanted to be alive. This whole long and winding process helped me get in touch with my inherent worth & my true core values, improve my relationships & my entire world view. Of course Sarah couldn’t do the work for me, and as with anything else, it only works if you put the work in. If you really want to change your life- if you stay open and are honest and willing to be self effacing in this process, I’m entirely certain that you can learn tons about yourself, and experience tons of growth if you have the opportunity to go through counseling with Sarah. I can’t say enough good things about all I learned and how much I changed in the 5 years I saw her & the mindfulness essentials group I took with her. (life altering-highly recommend!!) I know that if life throws me back into hard times, or mental health demons come back up for me, I will be giving her a call."
"Saw her for 5 years. She didn't do much to help. She even encouraged me to stay in an abusive relationship. She told me that yes, people can fall in love at first sight. Unfortunately, it more usual that someone is manipulating you if they love you immediately. You would think a therapist would know that. She did. She was only "helping" me on the surface, telling me how I'm so much more intelligent than her other clients. She kept me coming back. Until I did my own research online and actually discovered the root of my problems. I went in to see her and was very excited to tell her my discovery. She was not pleased. She glared at me through her eyebrows with her head lowered when I told her that I had figured it all out. When I was done talking she became overtly abusive and mocked me. This was a side of her that she had not shown me before. I understood that she was not my ally and had never been. I didn't go back."
