Reviews of Pacific Women's Center
"The front desk, Dr Beyerlein, and his nurse Christine have always been amazing to me. Dr B delivered my youngest almost 8 years ago. I never once had a bad experience at their previous or the new one."
"I’ve never felt less heard or cared about by a doctor. I’ve been struggling with extremely concerning symptoms for months now, and I waited a long time for this appointment. I had a thorough list of concerns that I was looking forward to getting answers on. Or at the very least some promise of looking into them. Dr. Gillian Betterton did not seem interested in discussing anything I was experiencing or going through. She did my pap and then was literally trying to walk out the door seconds later after telling me everything looks fine. There was no questions or conversation regarding any concerns I have. I tried pausing her for an opportunity to explain what I’m going through and to tell her about the many things I’m experiencing that are considered abnormal and problematic. Literally with one hand on the door she says “like what” and I had to frantically list a couple symptoms off the top of my head before she responded with “you’re still getting a period therefore you are normal”. I experience such severe hip pain before and during menstruation that I can not walk or bare weight at times. I have such severe hot flashes all month long that I can not sleep. My cycle is varying for the first time in my life from 28-49 days, among many other life interrupting symptoms that myself, the walk-in clinics and PCP do not consider normal. Hence my referral to see Dr. Bettermon. She was very condescending and rushed and didn’t seem to honestly care about me at all. I just felt if anything like I was inconveniencing her day. I cried as soon as she shut the door and the whole way home. There is nothing worse than being dismissed and treated like waste of time. Especially when I’m experiencing the problems that I am. I am still in pain and only have google to find answers at this point until I find another doctor who will take my insurance. Which is completely unacceptable when it comes to healthcare providers. Do better and at the very least, CARE or please find another job."
"I finally share my pregnancy and childbirth experience. First of all, I would like to thank MD.Sara Gerhards very solemnly, she is a very charismatic person. Because of her, I feel safe and cared for in these ten months, I am pregnant for the first time, the happiest time every month is to go to the ob check, any of my worries she will seriously and patiently answer, give me encouragement, good advice, I love her smile, because of her help, I feel more of the joy of being a mother. During the difficult delivery process, Sara made me feel like a family, and although I did not have a natural birth, MD. Brian Wakefield performed a caesarean section for me, successfully helped my baby to come to me, made me and baby feel safe and warm. MD. Brian is also a very awesome doctor. Their medical skills and morality mean a lot to me, and I hope that my little girl will grow up to be like Sara. Thank you Sara and Brian, you are my friends and family. Finally, thank you to everyone at Pacific Women's Center, every time the ob check can be happy from your care."
"If insurance had allowed me to choose another provider for my pregnancy I absolutely would have. Communication was a complete joke, and there were several instances where my calls were never returned. I usually had to track someone down to give me test results, even though they always said they would call me. Dr. Edwards is surface nice, but definitely lacks empathy and awareness. Her nurse Lexi is anything but warm and friendly, and was outright rude on more than one occasion. Awareness around disordered eating is completely lacking, and the only mention Dr. Edwards made of it was to ask if I was "over" my ED. How does one even answer that question? I was hoping to labor with as few interventions as possible, but didn't feel encouraged in that decision at all. At one point I told her I was concerned about Pitocin making labor surges stronger, and she said Pitocin doesn't have any affect on contractions... It absolutely does. All of my concerns and desires to have a natural birth were dismissed, and I honestly got the feeling that she was annoyed I was trying to do things in that way. I was extremely relieved when Dr. Williams ended up being the one to actually deliver my baby. Though It was completely unexpected, it ended up being such a wonderful experience. Dr. Williams made more of an effort to connect with me in three hours than Edwards did in nine months. Another fiasco we dealt with was being given a breast pump "for free" that we later received a bill for in the full amount. It would be one thing if the issue was insurance, but we were literally given a list of pumps and told that a portion of the list was covered by "ALL insurances." It just seems so reckless to tell people they're getting something for free when they'll actually be expected to pay the full price of $200+ When we came to them with the concern that patients were being misled, they completely deflected and blamed our insurance. I know in general medical care is hit or miss, but this was a huge miss unfortunately."
"I’ve been seeing Dr. Edwards since 2015 and have nothing but praise for the way I’ve been treated and looked after. Dr. Edwards and her nurse Lexie are absolutely amazing and have given me the best possible care, especially through my recent pregnancy with my son. Being a first time mom I had a lot of questions and Even my husband said he loved having Dr. Edwards as our OB, having her deliver our son was such a blessing. She really takes the time to explain everything, answer any and all questions you may have, and makes you feel that she cares for you and your priorities/family. I couldn’t recommend her enough."
