"I want to start by emphasizing the legal obligation parents have to care for their children until they are of age. As a Californian who had my daughter in Oregon, we relied on the same doctor from birth until she turned 14. Unfortunately, our trusted doctor, Sandra Vilhauer, retired in fall 2023, leading us to seek a new primary care provider. Upon entering their office, the atmosphere felt unwelcoming and crowded. Seven employees at the check in area, 3 working on their computers and 4 others just chatting it up. Only one person acknowledged us and handled the check-in process. When it was time to be seen, I was taken aback when the nurse insisted on taking my daughter alone, citing the doctor's preference to see children separately for 10 to 15 minutes before allowing parents to join. This policy made us uncomfortable, and upon discussing it, my daughter expressed her discomfort as well. Eventually, they allowed me to accompany her. During our consultation, I found the doctor's demeanor unpleasant. She not only dismissed my concerns as a parent but also directly told my 14-year-old daughter that she could attend appointments alone and make her own decisions by the age of 15…... This disregard for parental involvement contradicts my beliefs and leaves teenagers without the guidance they need. I know when I was 15 I WISHED I had guidance. hell, even at 19! Where do you get these dummbbbb laws from? Why the hell is there a push for minors to be adults so bad?????? I DONT GET IT!! Let children be children and adults be adults! Dr. Sandra K's lack of attentiveness was frustrating, as she seemed more inclined to argue than to provide assistance. I've never felt so disregarded by a professional before, and it was disheartening to be made to feel like a paranoid mother for expressing concerns about my daughter's health. It's worth mentioning that my sister also brings her children to this practice, as we both transitioned from Sandra Vilhauer's office following her retirement. However, the dismissive attitude towards concerns is alarming, especially when it comes to the well-being of a newborn. Despite my sister's repeated attempts to convey the seriousness of her baby's symptoms—vomiting and even cessation of breathing—she was repeatedly dismissed and told it was just a "cold." Now, her baby is in the ER and has been admitted. This level of negligence is unacceptable. Your practice's behavior warrants serious consequences, including the removal of your practice and the revocation of your licenses. I have never encountered such carelessness in my life. Feeling disregarded and uncomfortable, I promptly contacted my insurance provider to switch to a different healthcare provider. The unprofessionalism and dismissiveness we encountered at this office were disappointing, and I feel compelled to share our experience to caution others. It's crucial for healthcare providers to listen to parents and prioritize the well-being of their patients."
"Provider was nice but the ladies working the front reception were awful. Came in this morning for immediate care. Got up to the counter and could tell the woman was instantly annoyed. She had no cheerful tone or spirit and when I asked a question, she seemingly rolled her eyes. I was exhibiting symptoms at the counter and the woman sitting next to her just stared at me. The other receptionist complained to a client how “Ughh, well today is Monday.” You would think with 5 women being the first point of contact, at least half of them would have some type of courteous customer service. Based on the experience alone, I’m changing my health insurance. No way would I ever come back to this location. Also, as a new patient, it is extremely difficult to establish care with them. You have to call several different numbers and then can’t get seen for months on end. It’s not worth the unnecessary hassles to me."
"I have no issues with the Dr that I saw here. The issue that I have is being billed for what was supposed to be a routine annual checkup covered by insurance. Even the labs, which the Dr's office requested before the appointment, were not covered. My wife had the same annual checkup with labs, on the same insurance plan/different medical office, and was not charged for either. I pleaded with the medical office to update the bill code and was met with unpleasant non-customer service. I will go somewhere else for my healthcare needs going forward."
"I don’t want to downplay or not acknowledge what others have reviewed here, but I just don’t get it. Sure you can have problems when you have a limited amount of staff and many sick people. They are trying to do their best I am sure. But these people work very hard. I only have good things to say about providence medical Scholls. And they ask you nearly after every visit how things are, so there’s really no reason to write a bad review because they will take care of you. My doctor Karla is very thorough, she never dismisses my symptoms and checks out everything. And now that I’m in physical therapy, I’ve got nothing less than a miracle worker with Katie. Is it painful? yes a little bit, but it’s working. Going to the hospital is not supposed to be some kind of a joy ride. And when you’re sick and you’re not feeling good and you’re in pain it’s easy to blame others. I have felt very respected at this location. Most of all I’m getting treated. I’m 60 years old and I feel that if I keep coming here, I will live into my older life in a lot better health. I feel blessed to have this provider!"
