Reviews of Coastal Inn by OYO Lincoln City - Oregon Coast Hwy
"We had a multitude of problems with our room when we arrived. The manager, BEN, was AMAZING. He was attentive and quick to take action on our issues, even though we had to contact him after hours. He personally checked out an alternate room to make sure that everything was in order with it and then moved us to that room. He is an extremely professional, helpful, and empathetic individual. He went above and beyond to make our stay pleasant and is clearly a skilled customer service professional."
"I don’t normally review hotels but this place has some serious safety concerns. There was mold on the ceiling in the bathroom, the door didn’t shut right and had been busted open and was screwed back together. When I asked for extra pillows the maid handed me a pillow with blood on it and no pillowcase. There was no screen in the window so we were unable to have any circulation in our room, it was hot and stuffy not to mention people smoking pot right outside the window. Don’t stay here."
"Coastal Inn by OYO Lincoln City - Oregon Coast Hwy Short review: The room was not up to the mark in terms of cleanliness and safety. The absence of a fire alarm in the room is a serious concern, and the peeling paint and non-functional toilet and shower are unacceptable. It’s understandable that we were uncomfortable sleeping in the sheets and using the table due to their condition. Long review: This was a strange experience and I have stayed at quite a few properties that have been taken over by OYO. This one was was bad. Starting from the beginning. The front desk say they are open 4 to 6. Trying to check in at 5 and no one was there. Door says call so and so #, so I did. Well that phone was on the desk just ringing. 20 min later they show up. No ID required for room just sign. We were given a WiFi password, for a WiFi that i was later told don't exist. We had to be somewhere at 6 so we made the mistake of not checking the room. I'm not picky so thought how bad could it really be. We did not get back to room till after 11. and that's when we saw the condition of the room and it smelled like smoke. There was no fire alarm in room, (found it next day beeping in the hallway on top of a fire extinguisher.) The place smells like it used to be a smoking room. The room looked like it was painted blue but ran out of that mix and got one close to the same color. Paint was pealing and window would not open if there was a fire. The bed was hard and has what I call spring assist. Meaning it bounces you out if you sit down. Was to afraid to sleep in the sheets. The toilet barely worked. The shower had black stuff in it that would not wash away, there was sticky stuff on the Table. Next day 9 am No one to be found and the office is locked. Tried many time to call the in case of emergence #. To contact them we had one more night here and wanted to talk to them about a refund for next night and about the code violation of no smoke alarm in the room but no one was there or picked up the phone. While trying to find someone to speak with A lady who lives in the hotel(yes there are a many rooms of people who live there I was told) said it is really bad here people should not stay here. I called the hotels app i booked with to see if they could help get a refund since we were not staying another night in this place. They called with no luck.. I finely found (I'm not naming him its not his fault) the person who checked us in much later when we came back at 4 since it says they are open at 4. I told him about the fire alarm and how bad the room was and trying to get a hold of someone. He agreed with me and he joked that OYO stands for "On Your Own" and he don't recommend staying there. He told me that my whole 2 nights would be refunded. I told him I found the smoke alarm beeping in the hallway on top of a fire extinguisher. He told me they had been looking for that beeping for a week and did not know where it was coming from or from what. "WHAT!OMG" I waited over 30 days and got NO refund and the app I book though said since they would not pick up the phone or return messages or emails there was nothing they could do. I've stayed here before a few times before it was a OYO and it was acceptable not great but acceptable. So just because you stayed before and it was OK it has changed. The no smoke alarms in rooms and none in the stairs was quite alarming. Pun intended."
"This place is awful, if I could leave negative stars I would. The room was 100° and it wasn't even cleaned. There was hair everywhere and grime. There is no ac at this hotel to even cool down the rooms. I brought my dog and she overheated to the point where we could not stay in the room we had reserved. This was an awful experience and a full days drive to have to turn around and go back home. The staff is aware that the heat is an issue and don't seem to care enough to fix things. They leave windows open to get fresh air but all it does is make the rooms hotter. Also the backdoor is broken so anyone can just walk in as they please. This is scary. This place was awful. You don't want to go here, spend alittle more money and go to a nicer hotel/motel"
"I guess $132 on a Friday in summer in Lincoln City can't buy much. Case in point: OYO motel at NW 21st and Hwy 101. This is really a lodging of last resort. The thing that stood out the most was a terrible smell: musty, wet-dog, stale cigarettes, that additive they put in natural gas - all jumbled together. Everything in our cloth suitcases had to be laundered when we got home, even the unworn clothes because the smell permeated all of it. Upon our arrival at about 8:40 p.m. (the office closes at 9 p.m.,) we were given our keys to a room on the second floor. I went to the room before getting our stuff and when I entered I saw towels in the sink and bathtub and the unmade bed. "Ah," I thought, "no one cleaned this room after the previous guest." So, I went downstairs, it was now about 5 minutes to 9:00. The desk clerk apologized saying that 2 workers hadn't shown up that day. Another clerk who seemed to be in charge looked up available rooms and gave us an "upgrade" free of charge on the third floor. (This place has no elevator.) The upgrade to a queen room, which is what I had booked, had a balcony, he said. The balcony looks out over the parking lot and the highway. When we got to this room after walking up 3 flights on dingey carpets, down the trash-strewn corridor with an occasional towel hanging from a door knob, we were glad to have the balcony so we could get some fresh air. I went to use the bathroom and there was no toilet paper, facial tissues, or hand soap. Back down we went to the office which was by then closed. We called the phone number on the door and got hold of someone working in the laundry room. He came out and got us the items we needed. The bed was comfortable enough. My spouse said, "it's better than sleeping in the car." My response: "is it though?""
