"My experience here was not positive at all. Depending on your medications you are on we all know what detox is for, I had been on a medication for over 15 plus years and they gave me a 5 day taper when others got 15. That was way too fast. Their communication was poor, one person would say one thing and another something completely different. My counselor whom is well liked, Megan, broke confidentiality protocol many times. She lost my trust our second visit. I really thought she cared but when having a family call she stated an untrue fact and also to my face said something then her and a doctor teamed up on me about a certain thing. Terri was the most unprofessional woman I have ever met. She’s in charge of the woman’s unit and shouldn’t even be employed there. I don’t want to make this a hate post but my over all my experience was awful. I felt teamed up on and not heard. I felt like they cared in the beginning and as time went on saw a different side. My 1 star is because I am sober. Do your research esp if you are private pay. If so, you can get so much more one on one sessions at a different place."

"Being at Hazelden was life changing. I feel like it was the most important thing I’ve ever done. The emotional work was liberating. This is the only treatment center I know of that helps people heal their inner pain/trauma wounds that lead to use. The staff there were amazing. Overall I was treated with respect and empathy. The facilities were very clean and well maintained, and the food was amazing. Techs Tia, Michelle, Amanda, and nurses Mariana and Dee Dee were especially kind and helpful to me, and unfortunately I can’t remember all the names I’d like to list."

"All staff were amazing, but Amanda Hennessy my counselor. She has no bed side manner and tried to talk me into thinking my daughter had to grow up feeling as though she had to take care of me. My daughter grew up in the custody of her grandmother and I had my daughter every weekend. After knowing nothing about my oldest daughter she said “thats why you were not there for her” not knowing I was there every weekend. She is very pushy and at times rude. I had already said I would not be attending day treatment for I do not believe in needing AA/NA or the community to help me get well which is the system AA preaches. I count on self for the liquor does not push its self down my throat but me. I had already had feelings against the philosophy and to top it off as I left Amanda appeared angry when I said thank u. Her emotions for being angry about me leaving made me feel as though there would be more in it for her if I stayed.There was no reason to be mad. I only needed detox not anger towards me for my decisions. When she called my husband, she did not identify herself he had to ask many times who she was. My husband did not like her bed side manner as I did not too. Many others complained to me about Amanda. Not for me."

"The program / treatment at Hazelton Betty Ford Newberg was an extremely positive experience. The content, sessions and counselors were very helpful and supportive, but most of all the community there made you feel very safe. The safety aspect lead to truthful sharing which truly helps work with the addiction. Made some friends forever in sobriety there."
