"This park is nostalgic of days long ago when it was safe to be there. These days not so much. But... If your not a chicken and know how to mind your own business it's not so bad. I go there to hit golf balls cause it has a pretty large field. I must note that during the rainy season a raft or something that floats is a good idea. Rubber boots at least. The grounds are picked up it seems like once a month but I'm sure it's done more often but the people who go there to save money on garbage service keep it plenty ful of litter. The playground has had a tent set up right next to It but as long as your kids don't tresspass on the tent owners property it should be ok. The one out house has no Lock making the holes melted in the walls useless due to the fact that people that want to peak in, cause I see no other reason for the holes, could just look in the door that does not close all the way. I must note that the Salem police do patrol the park, I'm thinking looking for specific people, by way of driving from one entrance of the park thru the park itself to the other entrance. Found that a bit unsafe if not odd at the least. I would say Salem needs to seriously update this park or sell the property and be done with what has to be a money sink hole."
"The park is close to a number of restaurants, markets, and shops. It has a small but nice playground, outdoor basket ball court, and soccer fields, and novel play areas. The basket ball court is rough. Weeds are growing up in cracks. The parking lot is small and often insufficient during games. The bathrooms are post-a-johns. They have been filthy the last few times we were at the park. We had to supply our own TP since there wasn't any in the bathroom. Needles were picked up in the parking lot on a few occasions."
"Had a great time planting trees with Friends of Trees in the park and surrounding neighborhood."
"Beautiful park and large area. Running track with workout points. Would be great if..... there wasn't homeless dudes sleeping right next to the children's play structure and needles under every crevasse. I know the homeless shouldn't be held against the park itself but its owned by the city and the city needs to start holding people accountable for these issues. As patrons and tax payers of this fine state I suggest we begin with holding our elected officials accountable until they do something about the conditions of our cities and the areas our kids play. Remember they work for us as well as we need to stand up for ourselves. Sorry for the tangent but this experience was the last straw."
"Basketball courts, soccer field, playground, and an ex raid Pokémon go gym. I would not leave valuables in the car."
