Reviews of Safeway
"I wish that this store could at least to try get better, but I have been wishing that for twenty years. Our most recent experience was the final straw. The way we were treated for simply pointing out that our “$10 off if you spend $50” coupon, which we made sure to add to our “list” in the Safeway app, was not applied, was appalling. It is simply not worth the aggravation anymore. Twenty years later, thousands of dollars spent, dozens of poor customer service incidents experienced, and we are done. We will shop elsewhere from now on."
"I have been a Safeway customer for over 40 years. I was at the Lake Oswego store around 6:45 pm on December 7. The cashier (John G) was the rudest person I have ever encountered at Safeway. He did not say a word to me, or even make eye contact. He literally tossed my items into the bag, the whole time talking to another employee about "lack of commitment". When he tossed me the receipt and it fell on the ground he didn't even make an attempt to pick it up. I hope he was just having a bad day, and no other customers had to experience this, but I will shop at the Boones Ferry store from now on."
"I am shocked at the phone call I got from Nicole today. I called this Safeway about a month or less ago because I found a piece of plastic corner bag that I was chewing on from my chicken salad. Spoke to her then and she told me at that time she was the person in charge PIC - I wouldn’t get this from anywhere!) and I told her what happened. She offered to replace my food or refund me. I told her I lived far and she said I could go to any Safeway. I went to the Boones Ferry one cause it was closest. I wasn’t happy with her response and being dismissive so I asked to speak to her manager which she told me she was outside on a break. She said I could call back or she would call me within 10 minutes and took my information down. No one called me so that’s why I went to Boones Ferry store. When she called me today, she tried lying and gaslighting me as if she doesn’t remember speaking to me and lying so hard she put me on speaker for someone else to listen to which she thought I didn’t realize. I don’t appreciate being lied to because you didn’t want to accept responsibility that YOU didn’t have your manager call me then and now that I found a grasshopper in my salad and complained to Boones Ferry about all my experiences, you want to act like you care. As soon as you called me Nicole, I immediately said, “yes you are the person I spoke to who took my complaint and never had your manager call me back.” “I’m Nicole but I’m not the PIC, I didn’t speak to you.” I’m so disgusted by this “manager” and the gaslighting was at its all time high! Take accountability for your actions! Of course there’s no recording of calls to hold her accountable. Let’s see if she actually has her store director call me on Monday to follow up on this."
"I've been to more Safeways than I can count and this is by far the worst managed one I've ever been to. I'm here 2-3x a day on average, as I live and work within two blocks. The staff is really friendly but it's just madness. I was there three times today, here's what happened: First I went to get a sandwich. Chaos. At least 6 people in the deli, only three are working and only one is helping a customer. She has no idea who's next because for some reason Safeway REFUSES to implement a "take a number" system at the deli. Then she doesn't know how to make a turkey, bacon and avocado sandwich. Second trip, I tried to grab some chicken for dinner from the meat department. I sat there and sat there with no one around, until finally the person who was supposed to man it looked up from stocking meat and told me he'd be right with me, but instead proceeded to finish doing that instead of helping a waiting customer. Then, I ran to grab some beer. This is the worst. The checkout lines are always crazy long and the self-check lines are never manned, so you sit there, and sit there, and sit there, waiting for someone to take a one second look at your ID and two more seconds to input the birthday. Today, I had a staff member walk by me three times while I was sitting on a cooler next to the checkout waiting to be helped. One of the three registers was down, I was stuck at the other, and there was a huge line of people waiting for the one available self-check register. I spend so much time there unnecessarily I might as well just move in. Hire more staff, train better, and take care of your customers. I never thought I could be this disappointed with a grocery store."
"me in a group of my teenage girlfriend we first walked in with one of my friends in a shopping cart to push us around, one of the workers told us to get out of the cart no kids messing around (pretty aggressively) which makes sence but i didn’t know. we were going to get some snacks but we saw a few old workers staring us down and talking about us and pointing, we got very uncomfortable and left. i feel very disappointed about the service we had and violated."
