About Us
Tugman Park, located at 3666 Hilyard Street in Eugene, Oregon, is a popular tourist attraction and neighborhood park that underwent a major renovation in 2019 thanks to funding from the 2018 Parks and Recreation Bond and Levy. This park features fun new playground features for visitors to enjoy.
As one of Eugene's largest neighborhood parks, Tugman Park spans from 36th to 38th Avenue on the west side of Hilyard Street. Originally known as South Amazon Park, it was renamed in honor of William M. Tugman, a former editor of the Register Guard. The park's southern portion was once a municipal burning dump, which was remediated in the mid-1990s under the direction of the Oregon Department of Environmental Quality.
In 2002, a high-quality natural area known as "Fawn Lily Rise" was added to the northwest corner of the park, providing visitors with a beautiful and peaceful retreat. Visitors can also get involved with the Eugene Outdoors volunteer program to help care for the park and improve the quality of life in Eugene. Visit Tugman Park to enjoy the outdoors and explore the history and natural beauty of this unique park.

"Adventure cat approves of Tugman Park. Great playground and reservable gazebos for events. Decent bathrooms. Street parking. Nice playground and a little stream with kid friendly trails."
"A gen-ewe-wine neighborhood Park. Big field. A stream runs through it. Trees. All kinds of playground apparatuses-sus. BBall hoops. Three picnic tables. Kids, kids, and children all running around. From tiny tots to teenage mutant ninja turtles. Excellent. We had a birthday party for my nephew. We were not the only ones with this idea. The Sun was out as was the whole neighborhood. Cool. Need I say more? Pizza, cupcakes, family and friends."
"What a great park! Swings that an adult can swing in, while their toddler sits in an attached swing! Too cool! A whole lot, of really GREAT playground equipment, has been installed here. There's a cement walkway, going around the park, which makes a great lil kiddo freeway, for scooters or bikes. Huge sand area too. The bathroom was nice & clean, with flush toilets, not outhouses. The grass was lush, soft, comfortable & well groomed. There was a lovely shade tree to sit under, to get out of the Sun. This is a quiet & peaceful area, in a sweet neighborhood. We will go back numerous times!"
"This park is awesome! There is so much to do and it's great! Lots of grass to play sports on, lots of places to sit for food, covered picnic benches are a plus. They also have public bathrooms. We love the walking paths around the park so the kids get some time to play, while we also get a nice walk as well. The park itself is great. There's a huge sand area with lots of sand fun. A few different types of seesaws, a small park for littles, and a bigger one for older kids. There are swings for every age as well. No complaints about this park. It is great."
"Small nice park with playground equipment for kids to play on, which is on top of sand for safety. Benches for parents/caregivers to watch kids. Lovely to take a walk in. There are a couple of tables under cover at the back of the park for picnics and I believe they can be reserved. There is plenty of open space to play Frisbee or to throw a ball."
