"As a former employee of Evergreen International Airlines, it is not difficult to recall when the land under Museum was tilled and fertilized. It is fantastic that the Hughes HK-1 Hercules ("Spruce Goose") has found a permanent home. This aircraft - and the other historic exhibits in the museum - deserve a space where their stories can be told and preserved. It would be nice if there was a way for the aviation museums in Oregon and Washington could form a cooperative that would allow patrons/members to visit another member museum with a discounted price. As to the playground next to the Space Museum building: From this observers standpoint it us a magnet for children. Swings, teeter-totters, climbing structures, and a safery-oriented "spongy" floor that will help prevent severe damage if there is a "crash landing" (fall from one of the pieces of equipment). It was a challenge to convince a three-year-old to leave the playground and go look at rocket ships! And there was an onligatory stop at the playground before we could pack up the car to go home. [The rubbery floor will make some of us wish more shopping malls had floors with this kind of "give."] One last thing: the gift shop in the main building is far more reasonably priced than many others in the area. And the Museum's admission prices seem to be similarly more reasonable (and less expensive than it was just a few years ago). Perhaps the new ownership is willing to attract more people with affordable prices. We will definitely be back."
"Totally up close and personal with these space shuttles in Portland. The Evergreen Space Museum was one the most exciting visits in my life. Reminded me of my childhood, when I was so utterly obsessed with space news and observations. A visit Never to be missed!! The silence helps to really enjoy the travel you have into this world, or should I say, space …"
"They can set up historical Air planes inside and outside museums. I can see space shuttle, spaceship, space astronauts suits and WWII planes, jets and other stuff. Air Force had missions from Washington DC they were going to Japan, Germany and Europe all of the world. Kids learn to history and pilots life. It’s a big building, plenty of parking spaces, you can reservation tickets. Restroom is cleaned. Foods are pricy in there."
